and changing the battery didn't help. I also discovered that Galway has discontinued their line of mantle clocks, so I can't get a replacement.
I took a chance and I bought the 1 7/16" clock insert. It fits perfectly in the round hole in the Galway crystal. The clock insert comes with a #377 battery already installed. To start it running, you need to pull off a small plastic clip on the stem with tweezers. Set the time and push in the stem and it will start running. Then push the clock insert into the crystal and little spring-loaded ribs on the sides will hold it in place. It looks good.
The original clock that came with the Galway crystal had Roman numerals and I think you can get that style on Amazon, but I wanted standard numerals on the replacement clock. That's what this one has.
This replacement clock is for the Galway mantle clock that is about 4 inches wide at the base. It's the "small" mantle clock.
