My 89 year old grandmother who is hard of hearing (mostly in the high ranges) was complaining that she had looked everywhere for a kitchen timer that she could hear when it went off. I looked all over the internet for a timer that could possibly be loud enough, since all the stores I went to did not have ones that were loud enough. I stumbled across this one. It was advertised as being 100dB (rather loud) so I figured I'd give it a try. When I got it home I tested it out. I put it in the back room and set it. Then, I sat in the family room where my son and husband were watching TV and the baby was crying. Well, from = across the house with the door closed during all the commotion in my house I could hear it when it went off. I figured this may work. So I gave this to my Grandma for Christmas. I got a call from her on New Year's day. She told me she had set the timer and sat down to read the paper. During that time she had forgotten about it. Well, when it went off, she said she could not only hear it, but it startled her with how loud it was (even without her hearing aids). Score!! This worked. I am so happy Grandma is no longer burning her meals, and that this product works as described. I would definately recommend this timer!
