(More customer reviews)I purchased this for an academic contest, so students could see how much time remains during the contest. I chose not to use it due to its many shortcomings.
First, in order to get the clock to ring an alarm, you have to wind it past a certain time. This is not indicated in the instructions. So, for a five-minute class assignment, the timer never rings. Second, the ticking is quite distracting, audible from across a classroom. Third, the timer doesn't accurately register the time. It's hard to discern where exactly "ten minutes" is, and the bell doens't ring until thirty or forty-five seconds after the time limit has expired (testing with a smaller digital timer.) The timer's hand even goes beyond zero, to 59 minutes, before the bell rings.
I had an immediate need, so I paid the next day shipping (shipping from Amazon is almos always great for me,) so I paid more for shipping than for the item. Sadly, that indicates the quality of the timer. You get what you pay for. My loss, I guess.
If you're cooking or have some other timing situation that doesn't require a great deal of accuracy, this timer should be fine if you're willing to handle it's quirks. For any semblance of accurate timing, please avoid this item.
