I've had one of these for 6 years now. Unlike most digital travel alarm clocks, this thing's alarm keeps going. Used every work day for the past 6 years, it has never had a problem other than a dead battery once every year or so. The 'hands' stop rotating and just kind of twitch when your battery dies. It slows down first, though. Just change your battery when you change the clock for DST twice a year, and you'll be fine. I keep a couple dozen rechargeable AA batteries around at all times to power everything from video games to this clock, so it's never a problem to replace a dying battery.
Plenty loud unless you're hard of hearing, and I like the way it starts off quiet and increases in volume. It never needed adjustment except for Daylight Saving Time (not counting the two instances where I had forgotten to replace the battery with a strong FRESHLY CHARGED one). Nice light feature to see what time it is when you wake up in the middle of the night or need to know the time during a power outage.
Another way to tell your battery is low is that the light gets very dim, so if you notice the light getting dim, replace the battery.
The last tumble it took off a counter onto a marble tile floor sealed its fate, and it's time to buy a new one.
