I bought it to turn my Christmas tree on and off automatically, but I found it distracting to sit in the room with it. This is a fine product if you want to turn your lights on and off while you are away, or if you are used to background noises (it's fine if I play music to cover the noise), but if you are used to quiet you shouldn't use it while you are at home.
