Clock is in VA and time signal comes from CO; distance is no problem. During initial setup, it even got the time signal during daylight hours, which doesn't always work. Not using the alarm so can't vouch for that. Recommended.

This atomic digital wall clock from La Crosse Technology keeps users abreast of the exact time. Radio-controlled by transmissions from the national atomic clock in Fort Collins, CO, the clock regularly resets time and date for the chosen time zone and adapts automatically for daylight savings time. The wall clock also relays the day of the week, and the indoor temperature.
The clock features a simple, silver rectangular frame, equipped for both wall hanging and tabletop placement. On its LCD screen, the clock conveys the time in 12- or 24-hour format with easy-to-read black digits. An AM/PM notification distinguishes between morning or evening hours. For morning wake up alerts, the clock benefits from a crescendo alarm with five-minute snooze. A button interface on the back of the clock allows the user to manually set the time and the alarm, employ the snooze, and select Celsius or Fahrenheit temperature readings. Likewise, the interface is used for selecting the appropriate US time zone from Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific times, and also turns off the automatic DST for residents of Arizona and other regions that don’t observe daylight savings. To power the clock, the separate purchase of two AA alkaline batteries is required. A limited one-year warranty covers this item. The clock measures 9 inches wide by 1-1/5 inches deep by 7-1/5 inches high.
