The alarm sound is a woman screaming and a ghostly sounding man laughing. It's pretty creepy sounding. More ghostly than piratey. It's also all plastic construction, seems a little cheap.

Only thing I don't like is that it makes an annoying ticking sound that doesn't match up with any kind of ticking a clock would make for counting off the seconds. It's more like every 3 seconds or something. My 2 yr old son pointed it out one night when he couldn't sleep, but hasn't been bothered by it since. Still really nice, cute clock.

(More customer reviews)This is a cute clock but virtually useless as an alarm. The alarm sounds progressively more urgent for one minute and then turns itself off, never to wake again. The snooze function does not reactivate the alarm unless put into use before the one minute mark. Because my 8 year old daughter does not rise to turn off the alarm before one minute, at which time the clock turns itself off, the alarm does not sound again and therefore entirely fails in its job.

Nature Sound 7 Color Changing Light Alarm Clock Review

The first thing you should know it that this clock is small. About the size of a softball. I was expecting bigger, and was a little disappointed in that. Second, the 'nature sounds' are very fake. One is a coo-coo clock and one that's supposed to be water sound like a toilet flushing. For a 10 year old it's fine, for an adult looking for nature sounds, this isn't what you are looking for. The clock itself is a little more complicated to set than some, but not impossible. It does light up and changes colors when you push the buttons.
I'd say for a kid's first alarm clock this one is good, novel, fun. For anyone else, this isn't what you are looking for.

The alarm is a little tricky to set, and very quiet- it will not wake my non-morning-person unless it's two inches from his head. I guess I would have given it 5 stars if he was a light sleeper :)

My husband fiddled around with it and got it to work again but that was short-lived. Despite that, the clock itself still works so we haven't replaced it. We're still willing to buy another one for our friend's kids, hoping ours was a fluke. And I agree with other reviewers that since there are numbers missing, it's a little difficult to teach the kid how to tell time.

(More customer reviews)A few posters have complained that the product is too bright and you cannot have it totally dark in the room and still have the green light come on in the morning. But you actually CAN have it only turn green in the morning with no yellow light at night. This is a complaint I've seen on a few reviews on here, so I thought I'd post this clarification for others who may be considering buying this product.
From the American Innovative website FAQ on this product:
"I am using the "Ok to wake!" feature. Can I set just the green light to come on in the morning?
Yes. If you do not want the yellow light on during the night, you can set just the green light to come on in the morning. The LIGHT ON time will be set to the desired "Ok to wake!" time (i.e. 7am), the LIGHT OFF time is set to the time you want the green light to turn off (i.e. 9am) and the LIGHT change time must be set equal to the OFF time (i.e. 9am). With this set up the green light will come on at 7am and turn off at 9am."

OK to Wake Children's Alarm Clock and Nightlight Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this clock for my 2 1/2 year old because she gets up at odd hours and I wanted a visual clue to tell her when it was OK to get up. That part works.However, my 4-year-old son has the "Teach Me Time" clock by this same company, and it offers the same functionality and SO MUCH MORE.
The things wrong with this clock are:
-- No plug-in option, so when the batteries fade so does its usefulness.
-- The nightlight is not very bright and it turns off quickly ... this is true of the Teach Me Time clock, but when plugged in it is not an issue for whatever reason.
-- The time part is not illuminated, so while my daughter can tell it is OK to get up, she can't see what time it is. After being used to her brother's clock, this disappoints both of them.
I only bought this clock because the other one was sold out everywhere. While it does the sleep job, I was overall disappointed and would tell any prospective buyers to go for the other option if available.
