(More customer reviews)Unless your polarized outlets are installed upside down, the fat blade is on the left. On this night light, the fat blade is on the right, so you have to plug it in upside down.
Also, the animation isn't that great. The wings have two positions, the flower spins, and the body blinks on and off. Doesn't look like he's flying, more just like random flashing. Fortunately the animation is off by default.
It is colorful for an electroluminescent. Usually they are solid blue or green.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this coffee maker at the recommendation of a friend and I'm really happy with it so far. It has a selectable brew strength, a defeatable audio alarm that beeps when brewing is complete, a clock, and a delayed brew timer.
The delayed brew timer is nice to have if you want to wake up in the morning with a pot of coffee waiting for you. I've used the feature a few times, and I like having it, although most of the time I grind my own beans, so I don't like to let the grounds sit in the coffee machine overnight because they can get stale. Of course, that's unavoidable unless you spend the extra money on a machine that also grinds beans before brewing.
This coffee machine comes with a permanent, washable coffee filter that is sturdy, well-made, and washes out in the sink in a matter of seconds. It also comes with a charcoal water filter that is placed above the brew basket. The manual states that these should be changed every month (I wouldn't be surprised if they last longer than that, though). The replacement filters are inexpensive, but if you already have filtered water, you can leave it out.
Another feature that I really appreciate is the Fresh Brew timer, which allows you to see exactly how long that pot of coffee has been sitting there. If you're in a hurry, you can also pull the carafe out while the coffee is brewing to pour a cup. Once you put the carafe back in its spot, it continues normally. I've tried it a few times, and not a single drop has ever hit the hot plate. Oh, and the temperature of the hot plate is adjustable -- I got mine set at the perfect temperature so it doesn't burn the coffee if it's sitting there for a while.
My only complaints (and believe me, I'm trying pretty hard to come up with them): the display, while attractive, is a little on the bright side -- a switch to adjust the brightness would be nice, even if it was just a High/Low 2-way switch. An internal battery to keep the clock accurate in case of a power outage would have been a bonus too. Finally, even though it looks great and feels pretty strong, it's almost entirely plastic, so it doesn't have that solid "I'm going to outlast your children" feel to it that it might have if it had more metal in the construction.
All in all, I feel like I'm cheating it by giving it only four stars, but it's not quite 5 stars either. It would be a 4.5 for me if I could do that. :)

It hangs on the side of the refrigerator and is super easy to program. It is small and LOUD!!! I have three timers going at any one time and two are 'gentle reminders' to check the ovens. NOT this one! This timer is small, demanding and the sound is not one you can't ignore! The sound is the only reason I did not give it 5 stars...but then again...THAT may be the PERFECT reason to buy it!

I'm returning mine - I bought this one for the bedroom so that I could have the time and temperature at a glance - unfortunately, in order to do that I would need to turn on the lights - which defeats the purpose of having an electronic digital clock - if I have to turn on the lights I might as well look at my grandfather clock....disappointing from that aspect.
Oh yes...it has a small light...if you push the snooze button...inconvenient...
So, if you want this clock make sure that you use it in an area with lots of light.

(More customer reviews)I have a few atomic/weather instruments and this is the first time I tried Oregon Scientific products. When the clock arrived it was packaged very well, either for personal use or as a gift. The clock design is very attractive, and the colors of the display set it off. I purchased it for a bedroom nightstand clock and in that respect I've been slightly disappointed. The reasons for the disappointment are two-fold. The first problem is there is no ajustment for how bright the clock display is, and my wife is constantly complaining how bright it is in the room. The second problem is also annoying, as the brightness "pulses" up and down. It feels like we have an old store neon light in our room as the brightness keeps changing every 15 seconds. I don't know what the purpose of this is but it is annoying. During the day though, the display is harder to see. There are 2 reasons for this, the one is the brightness is not bright enough, the second is there is a very limited point of view. If you move to the right or left of the clock the display becomes limited. If you are right in front of the clock the display is fine, go back 10 feet though and it is hard to make out. Other then these complaints, the quality is fine, it was an easy setup and the remote unit for the weather along with the atomic clock feature worked flawless. Overall, for the money, it is a decent product.

I am a freelance writer and need to take frequent (90 minute) breaks to prevent arm, wrist and hand strain from using the computer. Never makes a mistake and the beep is loud enough, though it does have its limits -- it is not loud enough to hear in another room. PS - learning how to use it takes a minute or two, but is worth the effort.

Oxo Good Grips Digital Timer, Silver Review

(More customer reviews)I've bought a number of Oxo kitchen accessories, and found them to be sturdy, remarkably well designed, and easy to use.
Unfortunately, this timer is an exception.
It has the usual features typical of timers at this price point: clock plus timer, ten number keys for input, memory, etc. But instead of being flat with a magnet on the back so it can fall off the refrigerator like other timers, it's round like a traditional wind-up kitchen timer. It's solid-feeling and has nice non-skid feet on the bottom.
The problem is the display. It's horrible. For three reasons:
First, the numbers are small -- smaller than any other timer I've seen. They're about 1/4" high, half or less the size of those on comparable timers.
Second, the numbers are recessed 1/8" or more beneath a clear plastic cover, not on the surface -- it's dark in there and feels like looking down a well. It desperately needs a backlight, but there is none. Unless the light source is shining directly into the display, there's a large dark shadow covering part of the numbers. But that causes the third problem:
The clear plastic cover over the numbers is both curved and highly reflective, and it's virtually impossible to arrange things so that there isn't a reflection shining back into your eyes .
The bottom line is that I have to fiddle around to get the timer, the light source, and myself into a position where I can read the small, dark, shadowed, and reflective display. Not what I need when I'm trying to cook.
It's just not worth it. Since I have several other timers with displays I don't have to strain to read, I use this one as a paperweight. I'd have to say it works very well.
I just don't understand how Oxo managed to let such a flawed design out the door.

I bought this timer last summer (8 months ago) and I've had no problems with it. The magnet doesn't release from the refrigerator as I punch in the numbers. It does shift a bit. Maybe other users are being heavy handed? I've used it to remind me of events later in the day, setting it as far ahead as 7 hours and however many minutes I need. So it should work fine to time a roast. It's a simple unit and I've gotten a lot of use out of it without it breaking. Hopefully it will last for years. I'm buying another one today for my husband to use in his office. That's the best recommendation I can give it.

I emailed the company and they never replied. That says it all.
