WEATHER STATION KEY CHAIN Review

WEATHER STATION KEY CHAIN

This is a cool little gadget with a good variety of functions packed into a small case. The main display shows the weather forecast, although I have no idea how it gets it. Also shown is the time, date, day of the week, temperature and humidity level. Up here in Buffalo, NY, we're always interested in the humdity level in summer . It has a built in temperature and humidity sensor.
Anyway, the device also functions as an LED flashlight that illuminates about a 2 to 3 foot circular area. It shows the moon phase as well, if that's important to you. It has an alarm feature with a 4-cycle snooze. It comes with a conventional keyring and also a carabiner. I just used the carabiner to attach it to my crossbody handbag. It also shows the minimum and maximum temperatures in the range -58F to 158F. There's a very small compass on the reverse side. Small but readable. It beeps twice very quietly on the hour and I'm not sure how to turn that off or even if I can. But the beep is very polite and quiet. It takes 3 small batteries, and they were included and installed, a nice touch. To activate it, you pull out a little paper tab that must allow the batteries to make contact with whatever.
You can set the clock for 12 or 24 hour format. You also can display the temperature in degrees F or C. The calendar goes up to the year 2052. If the device gets confused, there's a recessed button on the back to reset it to the defaults.
The body is red plastic and it has a black faceplate with a typical LCD display. I thought I read somewhere that the case is ABS plastic, but can't verify that. It comes with a little pamphlet that explains all the functions pretty well. The back of the case screws on, so you'll need a teeny-tiny screwdriver to change the batteries. But don't you have one on your Swiss army knife? LOL. I like to be prepared, so I do carry a Swiss army knife and a small multitool as well. This little gizmo fits right into my collection. I guess I've been watching too much "Survivorman" and "Man vs Wild." Nevertheless, a handy little gadget. In case you're interested, the humidity here at the moment is 55%.
