(More customer reviews)We have an "older" model with rounded edges instead of angled as shown. It is simple, stylish, and reasonably priced for those who prefer the "old fashioned", more decorative weather stations (as opposed to the digital ones becoming so much more prevalent). We do find the thermometer takes some getting used to, as the large outside numbers aren't on the "tens" as the other dials are. They seem to line up with the every ten degrees in celsius (inner circle), so it does make sense, but since the dashes indicating every ten degrees Farenheit aren't very bold, the thermometer isn't as easy to read as it could be. We use it more for the barometer and hygrometer, though, which we found to be clear and accurate.

(More customer reviews)We took care of a home in Hawai'i that had a Davis Vantage Pro2 station installed and though I am the "weather nut" in the family, my wife became very interested and checked the full-function console screen every day. Each gust of wind would cause her to ask: "How strong was THAT one?" After five weeks there she was the one that suggested we order one for our home. I never dreamed that I could own one like this but Amazon prices it so that it is possible. The installation was simply clamping it to a 2" diameter pipe that sits in a cup on the deck and attaches to the eave of the house. I carry the console to the neighbors and show it off. They may purchase their own console (about $300) and read data from my transmitter package (1,000' range), or I can place duplicat consoles in the greenhouse, garage, or den, with a limit of eight total. Also, each console will re-transmit to another, in a "daisy-chain" fashion. Not only does this device display more current items then you could ever think of, it maintains past data and graphically depicts the previous 24 hours of most items. As an example, for rainfall you will get totals for today, this month, this year, the last 24 years (if it was running then), the current rate of rainfall, and the total rain for this storm. It will also tell you the totals of the last 24 storms. How accurate is it? With the optional software, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will accept your data, (you can read about it if you go to: [...]), as well as schools and other groups. Optional equipment will allow you to determine if you should water your plants, to measure temperature in multiple places, and to read solar radiation levels. We are VERY happy with our Davis Vantage Pro2 system and strongly recommend it to you.

I'm returning mine - I bought this one for the bedroom so that I could have the time and temperature at a glance - unfortunately, in order to do that I would need to turn on the lights - which defeats the purpose of having an electronic digital clock - if I have to turn on the lights I might as well look at my grandfather clock....disappointing from that aspect.
Oh yes...it has a small light...if you push the snooze button...inconvenient...
So, if you want this clock make sure that you use it in an area with lots of light.

(More customer reviews)I use it daily and the interior temperature is probably fairly accurate. But the outside reading can be all over the place. I have it on the shady side of my home, so no direct sunlight hits the remote unit. Yet, it will display temperatures a good 10+ degrees hotter than actual. Also, at times, the unit will not show a reading from the remote.
Overall, this thing is okay but you might be better off spending a little more for something more accurate.

(More customer reviews)What I was looking for was a simple and inexpensive instrument that could provide some basic weather data, specifically the barometric pressure (which is indicative of advancing weather systems). Instead of the barometric pressure, you get the little cloud-or-whatever-it-is icon in the top right, that being the device's interpretation of pressure data (which is does not show you). The only way to tell if a barometer is accurate is to check it against known accurate ones, over a few days at minimum. Because this isn't possible on this device, essentially you're just hoping that the little icon in the top right is somehow always accurate.
It's a toy, and I should have known better than to buy a cheap product and expect it to behave even slightly like a quality instrument.
If you just want something that will tell you the temperature, humidity, and time, I suppose this is great. Although a ninety nine cent drugstore version you can hang on your wall will do the same thing in that regard. The extra money you're spending is going towards the gee-I-hope-it-works-even-though-there's-no-way-to-check prediction icon.
If you need real weather data, move along.

I purchased the Weems & Plath Endurance Collection 085 Barometer, Comfort Meter, and Clock in April as a gift for my mother. Today, after she told me that the clock was no longer working, I found out that each of these is made in China. $300 for Made in China items that you can see cost less that $1 at source (e.g. check out a site called alibaba, which lists the Chinese manurefacturers of these components)?

(More customer reviews)I received a well deserved "C" in Meteorology in College, but when I got the Wireless Weather Station, I was stunned at what I had missed and what this device can offer. Quite simply, an outdoor sensor (a small iPod sized `thermo/hygro sensor') placed on an outside post or wall acts as the receptor of information from, yes, the NIST (National Institute of Standards & Technology-Time and Frequency Division) radio station, WWVB, in Ft. Collins, Colorado, daily. Also using the local weather, the sensor transmits tons of information to the very cool looking unit in your house. Here are some of the features you see:

The only drawback I could find is that the LCD display is not very bright without indoor lighting. But that's a small complaint considering all the cool stuff you get just by glancing at the display on your wall (I put mine among all my wall photos). This would also make a really great gift for anyone - weather-wise or not.

(More customer reviews)I was embarrassed when the recipient of this gift opened it to find the mahogony stain to be streaked with dark blotches, the second hand on the clock unattached, the battery (especially such an odd battery) missing from the package and a disclaimer stating that the notations for Rain, Change and Fair on the barometer of the "Weather Station" were for decorative purposes only. The only reason that I gave 2 stars instead of 1 was that the brass looks nice.

Oregon Scientific BAR908HGA Blue Line Weather Forecaster Review

(More customer reviews)I feel deceived. I bought this pricey product based on it prominently proclaiming "Metal" on the box, thinking this wouldn't be something that I'd want to trash once it falls on the floor and gets cracked. I also hoped it wasn't made in China.
Well, it is made in China and it is not all metal. It's plastic with a metal band around the display and plastic base. The range of the one remote sensor is poor; it would not transmit from downstairs to directly upstairs in our house. I also cannot get atomic clock synchronization to work (it doesn't find the radio station). It also it much more expensive that similar Oregon Scientific products. The array of setting buttons on the back is also counter-intuitive and the rather bright always-on LCD back light makes it unsuitable for use on one's nightstand.
I used to very much like Oregon Scientific products, but see that they were bought out by a Taiwanese company about 10 years ago. So I am not seemingly not buying American at all.
Pros: Slick blue lighting, five possible remote controls (interestingly the manual sounds like there should be a UV sensor also be included, but only the single temperature and humidity control is in the package)
Cons: deceiving packaging, poor wireless sensor performance, clumsy controls, expensive
