Timex TX6130 Wireless Three-Window Indoor/Outdoor Electronic Thermometer with Hygrometer Review

I liked the freeze alert & humidity sensor. The user manual says it is accurate to +/- 5%. The outdoor sensor cannot be placed within 6ft of a TV/Computer monitor/metal, etc. It also needs to be protected (somewhat) from the elements. Inexpensive 20.

They say it's not the heat, but the humidity. Well fret not, because the versatile Timex TX6130 wireless electronic thermometer displays both at the same time. The compact unit--which sits unobtrusively on a desktop, table, or shelf--sports a trio of LCDwindows with bold, conspicuous readouts. The top window displays the indoor temperature, the middle window displays your choice of the indoor relative humidity or time, and the bottom window shows the outdoor temperature. As a result, you can instantly gauge whether to wear shorts or pants on a seemingly mild summer day, make sure the humidity level is correct in the greenhouse, or crank the air conditioner as the afternoon progresses. The temperature readings range from 32 to 122 degrees F (0 to 50 degrees C) for the indoor temperature to 14 to 122 degrees F (-10 to 50 degrees C) for the outdoor temperature. The relative humidity, meanwhile, is measured on a scale of 20 to 90 percent, with the hygrometer performing best between 40 and 70 percent.
The TX6130 is remarkably easy to read--even from across the room--thanks to the pronounced digits, which measure 0.62 inches tall. Even better, the system comes with a wireless remote sensor/transmitter that measures the outdoor temperature from up to 100 feet away. The extended range of the wireless transmitter lets you place the main station virtually anywhere without losing the remote signal. Both the main station and the transmitter come with integral fold-out table stands for shelf or desk placement, along with built-in keyhole slots for wall mounting. Note, however, that the remote sensor should not be exposed to direct sunlight and must be protected from rain, snow, and wind.
The TX6130 also features a minimum/maximum memory function that records the high and low temperatures and humidity levels of the day. The values are available at the push of a button, with a second button clearing and resetting the memory on command. And gardeners will love the unit's Freeze Alert function, which sounds an audible five-second beep every minute and flashes a "Freeze" icon once the temperature falls into the freezing zone of 37.4 to 30.2 degrees F (3 to -1 degrees C). The alert gives you plenty of time to move sensitive plants indoors or protect the roots of larger plants outdoors. Users can also mute the beep or turn the alert off completely.
The TX6130's built-in clock is no slouch, either, with settings for 12-hour (with AM and PM) and 24-hour modes along with an alarm and a five-minute snooze button. Add in a snazzy white housing, an iPod-like control panel, and a red LED on the transmitter and you have an attractive, highly functional thermometer that's ideal for kitchens, greenhouses, saunas, and a host of other locations. Power requirements include three AAA batteries for the main unit and three more AAA batteries for the transmitter (not included), with alkaline batteries recommended in most cases.
The TX6130's main station measures 2.06 by 6.94 by 0.94 inches (W x H x D) without the stand, while the remote sensor checks in at 3.06 inches in diameter and 1.06 inches deep. The entire bundle is backed by a one-year factory warranty.
What's in the Box Main station, wireless remote sensor, integral table stands for each unit, user's manual.

This wireless indoor-outdoor thermometer works as advertised. Its remote sensors have very good range and seem quite accurate. It was frustrating to set up because the instructions were not very clear. Once you figure out how to set up the sensors and base, you should write down how you did it. If you don't write it down you'll get frustrated when you have to change the batteies in one of the sensors.

Everything is fine . Delivered as quickly as possible and everything works as specified. Two things I will get next time are an outside temperature and humidity reading and a time stamp on the high and low humidity readings.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Temperature Humidity Meter TH804 Hygrometer

Great Tool To adjust your humidifier or air conditoner!Avoid damp rooms that promote mold! Most experts recommend an indoors air humidity level between 40 and 60% as most comfortable. Too dry air can strain the respiratory tract, while high humidity levels promote the growth of mold and germs in the walls. Many people use humidifiers during the dry winter months. But does your humidifier work right? Does it provide enough moisture, or too much? Measure it with the TH804 meter! This meter will allow you to check the humidity level and temperature quickly. The sensor is located at the lower edge of the meter, for best air circulation and fast readings. Place the meter in a room and after 3-5 minutes it will give you a stable reading of the current conditions. You then can use the readings to adjust the humidifier. If the meter reads "dry" it might be good to switch it on, if it reads "wet" you should switch it off to avoid mold.

Oregon Scientific THGR268 Remote Temperature Sensor Review

Oregon Scientific THGR268 Remote Temperature Sensor

This thermometer is a wireless device with fairly accurate temperature readings, so long as you keep it in the shade and out of the rain. It features the ability to change between degrees C and degrees F, independent of the base unit.
I have 3 of these, one outside and two inside. My only complaint is that humidity sensor on the outside device has failed, because some insects got into it and nested on the sensor. Now this device is merely a thermometer with inaccurate humidity, so I must buy a new one. Another factor, true of any battery powered outdoor device, is that the alkaline batteries freeze about 0 degrees F, making the device inoperable. The solution to this problem is easy: insert AA LITHIUM batteries. They will be good to about -30F.

We own four of these little hygrometers. I've found them to be accurate -- all are within 1-2% relative humidity of one another when placed next to each other (in general, hygrometers that are within 5% of each other are considered pretty accurate for low-cost, consumer-grade hygrometers). I have them dispersed throughout the house, so I can verify the temperature and humidity in each room.
The price is pretty reasonable, too. I like the look of these units, and their simplicity. The only "option" you can select is whether the temperature is in F or in C.
The first one we bought two years ago, and the battery is still going strong. I haven't checked the type of battery, though, to see what will be needed when replacing.
With this little tool, it's been easy maintaining the humidity in our house between 40-45% year round with the aid of three humidifiers.

This makes the 2nd Conant product that I have purchased, and both of them have totally exceeded my expectations. The craftsmanship, and quality of materials is immediately evident in both of the products I purchased. Would recommend the Conant line strongly.

The Vermont Weather Station monitors both temperature and humidity.Finished in antiqued copper, it uses a 4.25 inch diameter thermometer dial with a 1 inch hygrometer dial with an outdoor swivel arm bracket for mounting at just the right angle. These classic weather instruments combine practical simplicity with timeless design. The solid copper housing will endure well outdoors because it is naturally resistant to corrosion.Left unattended, it will attain a rich, dark patina. We do not apply a protective coating to the surfaces of our outdoor products because there is no clear coating that lasts as long as the raw metal itself. The highest standards of craftsmanship have been employed to assure that these instruments provide a lifetime of trouble-free service.

Not bad. I bought this one to replace a wired unit I had. It is very good at relaying an accurate temperature. The atomic clock is tricky, but works if you have a clear path to the northern sky. The channels went astray a couple of times, but once they are locked in they do well. I would recommend this product.

Chaney Instrument Wireless Weather Station w/ Remote Review

Chaney Instrument Wireless Weather Station w/ Remote
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought the Chaney Wireless Weather Station back in late August. I'll admit, I am very critical about my products, so this one was intensely reviewed. Overall, I think it was well worth the purchase (and the price was reasonable too!). This product tracks temperature and humidity from a remote sensor and the base station, as well as provides arrows that indicate the general trend (temp rising, falling, stabilizing). The clock is readable from a distance and the weather forecaster has been accurate about 90% of the time.
I would give this product 5 stars if not for a few things I have not liked about it. First, it is difficult to read the "Day of Week". Sure, I didn't buy a weather station to find out what day it was, but that feature would be nicer if it was readable from more than 5 feet away. Second, the moon phase icon likes to scroll around through the entire cycle. It remains on the actual phase for about 5 seconds, but it gets really annoying when your glancing at it and it's moving around, leaving you to wait for it to come to a halt again. Lastly, the weather forecaster seems a bit sensitive to barometric pressure changes. I don't know if this is uniform for all weather stations. Like I said earlier, it is right 90% of the time. However, sometimes it will jump from sunny to partly cloudy and then rainy when the Weather Channel says it will be rainy within the next 12 hours for sure. Also, my unit has trouble connecting to the Colorado station -- however, this is my problem, as I am in an apartment where even cell signals struggle getting in.
Overall, this unit was well worth the purchase. I would gladly recommend it to anybody buying a weather station. It is affordable, reliable, and has never given me any grief.

This unit is a bit of a dissapointment. My bad I went for price. Resetting time temp is not easy or intuitive. Keep the instrcutions handy. The remote sensor which I had about 20 feet away phases in and out. Spend more on a better unit.

Acu-Rite 00831 Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer Review

Acu-Rite 00831 Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This indoor outdoor thermometer is very easy to use and set up. I like the wireless technology, although the stated maximum distance for the placing the sensor of up to 100 feet away might be overly optimistic. I originally placed the sensor about 20 feet from the unit and then relocated it closer for better results.
Resetting the minimum/maximum setting is as easy as holding down the celsius/fahrenheit button on the rear of the thermometer for three seconds.
Two minor issues-
The sending unit is not waterproof, and needs to be protected from inclement weather. I eventually placed mine in the tool tray of my garden hose reel. The instructions suggested to placing it under a soffit or overhang, however a decorative little bird house would work well too.
In very cold weather, single digits and below, the manufacturer recommends lithium ion batteries for the sending unit, as alkaline batteries don't perform as well in very cold conditions.

Polder Dual Sensor Thermometer and Timer Review

Polder Dual Sensor Thermometer and Timer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Although this is a few bucks more than some other probe thermometers, there is a nasty little secret those others usually keep hidden until you buy them and start reading the fine print in the manual: they can only be used up to temperatures of something like 375. That rules out the whole reason I want the thing--roasting, where I pretty much always have at least some period of cooking above that temperature.
In contrast, this beauty has a range up to 572, along with a much heavier, less kinky cord than my old Taylor.
Just that would be plenty to sell me on this model, but wait... there's MORE! In addition to telling you the temperature of your food, it has a separate sensor that gives a readout of the oven temperature. Since home ovens almost always run a bit off from the set temperature, this is critical. It's a real joy to get the temperature reading from the *outside* of the oven, rather than trying to read it off a grimy, unreliable dial thermometer that you probably knocked to the bottom of the oven when you put your pans in anyway.
On top of all that, it also includes a timer. No more accidentally clearing your timer when you go to use the microwave!
Because this replaced two separate thermometers in my oven, it actually works out to be the cheaper option. But even if it were more, I'd still recommend it for the convenience and because it (so far, at least) seems to be of a markedly higher quality than the competitors.

A modern beauty...well designed... nice features...proximity sensor, very cool...perfect for an office or a well lit place....
I'm returning mine - I bought this one for the bedroom so that I could have the time and temperature at a glance - unfortunately, in order to do that I would need to turn on the lights - which defeats the purpose of having an electronic digital clock - if I have to turn on the lights I might as well look at my grandfather clock....disappointing from that aspect.
Oh yes...it has a small light...if you push the snooze button...inconvenient...
So, if you want this clock make sure that you use it in an area with lots of light.

WEATHER STATION KEY CHAIN Review

WEATHER STATION KEY CHAIN
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a cool little gadget with a good variety of functions packed into a small case. The main display shows the weather forecast, although I have no idea how it gets it. Also shown is the time, date, day of the week, temperature and humidity level. Up here in Buffalo, NY, we're always interested in the humdity level in summer . It has a built in temperature and humidity sensor.
Anyway, the device also functions as an LED flashlight that illuminates about a 2 to 3 foot circular area. It shows the moon phase as well, if that's important to you. It has an alarm feature with a 4-cycle snooze. It comes with a conventional keyring and also a carabiner. I just used the carabiner to attach it to my crossbody handbag. It also shows the minimum and maximum temperatures in the range -58F to 158F. There's a very small compass on the reverse side. Small but readable. It beeps twice very quietly on the hour and I'm not sure how to turn that off or even if I can. But the beep is very polite and quiet. It takes 3 small batteries, and they were included and installed, a nice touch. To activate it, you pull out a little paper tab that must allow the batteries to make contact with whatever.
You can set the clock for 12 or 24 hour format. You also can display the temperature in degrees F or C. The calendar goes up to the year 2052. If the device gets confused, there's a recessed button on the back to reset it to the defaults.
The body is red plastic and it has a black faceplate with a typical LCD display. I thought I read somewhere that the case is ABS plastic, but can't verify that. It comes with a little pamphlet that explains all the functions pretty well. The back of the case screws on, so you'll need a teeny-tiny screwdriver to change the batteries. But don't you have one on your Swiss army knife? LOL. I like to be prepared, so I do carry a Swiss army knife and a small multitool as well. This little gizmo fits right into my collection. I guess I've been watching too much "Survivorman" and "Man vs Wild." Nevertheless, a handy little gadget. In case you're interested, the humidity here at the moment is 55%.

We have owned the silver unit (not the John Deere version) for over 6 years now and it has been reliable. We bought additional sensors for the unit multiple years after we bought the receiver and they worked as well. Now we have three remotes working. One outside, one in the garage, and one in the attic. I searched this item on Amazon in an attempt to buy another one for a gift, but I can only find the green one and I don't want the green one. Anyhow, I have multiple Oregon Scientific items and have had good luck with both of them. I guess they have created a loyal customer.

This product is not worth $10. Its temperature and humidity gauge is barely functional. The construction is shoddy, the backlight does not work, even with fully charged 1 AAA battery, the screen is only visible at 40-50% opacity, and sometimes is completely not visible unless you tilt it up and down and keep adjusting and maybe it'll come back on. If they had priced it at $3.99 it would have been more worth it. I'm very disappointed.

Outfitted with a wire probe for placing outside, the unit toggles between outdoor temp and indoor temp readings. Its humidity display is just below and slightly smaller than the temp readout. The numeric layout is large and readable, and a backlight makes visibility easier. For long-term tracking, the model also includes high/low recall for both temperature and humidity.
