DeLonghi DCM485 10-Cup Thermal Carafe and Coffeemaker, Brushed Stainless Steel Review

DeLonghi DCM485 10-Cup Thermal Carafe and Coffeemaker, Brushed Stainless Steel

Are you tired of parts made of plastic and not real metal? This coffee maker is made of genuine brushed stainless. If the part on this machine looks like metal, it is metal. The overall look and style is very European, even the buttons and display are good quality and simple to use and understand. The carafe is stainless inside and out, and keeps the coffee hot for at least 4 hours. The water resevoir lifts out for easily filling from the tap, so you don't have to fill the carafe first and pour it into the machine. The resavoir has graduated markings. Also, the filter holder comes out for easy cleaning. The only quirk I found is that, as with other themal carafes, you have to pour slowly to keep from dripping. It also helps to read the manual that explains how far to unscrew the top before pouring to avoid drips.

DeLonghi ESAM5500M Perfecta Digital Super-Automatic Espresso Machine, Metallic Blue Review

DeLonghi ESAM5500M Perfecta Digital Super-Automatic Espresso Machine, Metallic Blue
Average Reviews:

I am surprised that I am the first reviewer of this great machine. I just received mine yesterday. I bought it from another vender, but since I typically do most of my shopping via Amazon I thought I would share my experience thus far. Overall, this Super-Automatic is simple to use and makes great coffee, lattes, and cappuccino's. My advice though....WATCH THE DVD BEFORE USING!!! I thought I had this thing in the bag.. how difficult could it be to use??....Well it isn't difficult to use, but there are a few things I did that had I watched the video all the way through I would not have done. For example, when setting how fine or coarse you want the beans you have to adjust the dial one notch at a time while the grinder is running (still doesn't make sense to me). I paused the video before waiting for the lady to finish talking on the topic and just moved it a few notches towards fine...oops! Oh well, doesn't seem to have adversely effected anything, but now I know. Contrary to reviews I have read of super-auto's, the burr grinder on this one is quiet when running. On a scale of 1-10 where 10 is extremely loud and 1 is basically silent I would rate this machine a 5 and my Cuisinart Grind and brew (the one that hold like a pound of beans) an 8. I was actually expecting something much louder.
Build Quality- I would have to say I am impressed with the looks of this machine and its fit and finish. I am sure some people will complain of the amount of plastic, but seeing how this thing already weighs over 20lbs. why add more weight. I thought about the Gran Dama, but honestly this machine is better.
Coffee- I was also considering the Jura Z5 because I read good things, but the price was a stretch.Granted, this machine isn't cheap either. I believe that I made the right choice. The espresso is great. I do wonder though what it tasted like from the factory, but since I changed the settings prematurely I will never know...ha! The Milk pitcher is ingenious...BRAVO! Latte's and Cappuccino's are a breeze and let me tell you this machine makes both very well. Sure a semi-auto can do better, but really I do not want to do the extra steps. As it is, Starbucks does not compare. I have read reviews that state the Gran Dama latte's can be cold. I have to admit, the first one I made was, but after I made a couple and utilized the cup warmer they were perfect. I bought the Cinnamon Dolce syrup from Starbucks and I downed to many lattes....probably explains why at 0209 EST I am still up and writing this review.
My Opinion- If you are in the market for a super-automatic I would say give this one a consideration. I bought this machine from a place that has probably the best return policy of all retailers, so if something does go wrong I will take it right back for another. Regardless, the people at Delonghi are great and I was amazed that as soon as I pushed (1) I was talking to a person almost immediately. I will probably just purchase the extended warranty from the manufacturer and extend the 2 years to 4...Extra $150. That is all for now. Look for an update in a couple months. **UPDATE** 3/24/10
Well I overworked the first one, but the place I bought it from gladly took it back and ordered me another one. I made nearly 2,000 cups of coffee in 4 months with the first one. I have made nearly 1000 with the one I have now, but it seems to be holding up fine. As far as recommending it I still would. I love this machine. It is so nice that I can make everything Starbucks does without having to pay them $4 for every cup. I have basically every syrup they have and all my guests rave about the Delonghi. It is a lot of money to spend on a coffee maker, but I would do it again.

DeLonghi DO400 1400-Watt Digital Control 4-Slice Toaster Oven Review

DeLonghi DO400 1400-Watt Digital Control 4-Slice Toaster Oven
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I used to have a much larger toaster oven, but having subsequently bought my first microwave, when the big toaster oven died, I looked for a smaller toaster oven to free up some counter space. I've had this for about a month, and I think it's quite good for what it is, but for what it is, it's overpriced. If it were cheaper I'd rate it higher. It broils beautifully. The oven heats very quickly, which is great. By my measurements, it's about 50 degrees above the requested temperature in middle ranges, as has been noted by others. But small toaster ovens are always unreliable on precise temperature. That's why all those frozen foods that come in microwave containers say don't cook them in a toaster oven (which you can do just fine, by the way, if you know how far off the temperature is). I prefer toast a little lighter than it makes toast at T-1, but it's okay. I miss features like the hook pull-outs, which not only pull the shelf out when you open the door but keep the door from crashing up and down, and the pull-out, rather than drop-down, crumb drawer. It's a perfectly adequate small toaster oven, but it should be either a little better or a little cheaper.

An efficient alternative to turning on the oven, this 1400-watt countertop appliance provides user friendly digital controls that make it easy to bake, broil, toast, or keep food warm. Its 1/3-cubic-foot capacity will accommodate individual pizzas, casseroles, or up to four slices of bread, bagels, or English muffins at a time. In addition, the unit's toast-color selector with automatic shut-off allows for choosing from light to dark settings, and its adjustable temperature control makes it easy to cook with the right amount of heat. For precise and consistent results, press the quick-check button to view the current oven temperature anytime during the cooking process. Other highlights include a drop-down crumb tray for easy disposal of crumbs, a removable bake pan and broil rack, and an attractive design that will nicely complement any kitchen decor. Great for cooking up breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the toaster oven measures 11-1/4 by 16 by 8 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty against defects.

DeLonghi TCH7590EB 30-Inch Ceramic Tower Heater, Black Review

DeLonghi TCH7590EB 30-Inch Ceramic Tower Heater, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I first got the 24inch Ceramic Fan Heater by DeLonghi, and I liked it quite a bit so I decided to get a second one for another room. Both of them are pretty great.
This 30inch heater out of the box is an attractive, glossy black. The blue LED screen is easy to read and just the right size. I do not find the brightness to be overwhelming at night, but then again I do not often sleep in a completely dark room, I have a couple air fresheners with nightlights to help keep my footing at night, so whoever was complaining it was too bright must sure be picky. If it is too bright for you, I suggest placing some "self-stick" saran wrap that Glad now sells. The one where you press the edges and it sticks to the plate. This wrap has a bit of opacity to it, and it will not leave any kind of nasty tape residue on your machine. The LED area also does not get at all warm, it remains cool to the touch actually even after hours of running the machine. Just a suggestion.
I will clear up something, the reviewer "KOTCH" must be of low IQ or something, because the base only comes in 2 parts with some screws. And it literally takes 2-3mins to place on the heater even without reading the directions. It could not be any simpler people. So please do not worry about it, my technologically phobic haircutter wouldn't have issues.
The machine once set-up and going has just about all the features you need. It has the built in thermostat that maintains the temp you want fairly close. The thermostat does NOT give the current temp, though, but purchase one of those mini-temp readers that are approx 1x1 inches and settle it near the machine and you're set. The machine has 3 modes - Heat, Fan, and Anti-Freeze. The heat mode has Low, High, and Auto settings. The Auto setting simply makes the decision based on ambient information whether to run at low or high to meet the set thermostat temp, which can be handy if running during the night and you wish to keep energy bills down. The Fan mode has Low and High settings. Then the antifreeze mode simply ensures that the temp does not go below 45degrees, this number is not adjustable. I guess it would be handy in my basement where the temp gets cold cold cold, and this machine would keep it from getting that bad, but overall, I do not really see much use for this setting. Unlike the 24inch model, this machine dooes not have an ECO mode, BUT the "Auto" mode technically the same.
The thermostat is defaulted at 72degrees and can be set at low as 60degrees or as high as 90degrees and the thermostat is not available in fan mode, only heat mode. The machine has an oscillating feature, which helps heat rooms much more effectively, but I like to have the heater blowing right on my body, so I don't use it all the time. Regarding the Timer feature, I think a previous reviewer gave a confusing explanation. The Timer feature has TWO modes. The first mode is set when the machine is on STAND-BY which is simply put when the machine is turned off. When the button is pressed during stand-by you can set the clock to turn on automatically after set amount of time under previous temp settings.
Then if you press the timer function while the machine is already on and running, the machine will automatically shut off. Under BOTH settings you can set the timer anywhere between 0.5hrs to 24hrs in 1/2hour increments. So the timer DOES have an auto-on and an auto-off function and reviewer "Duc" simply must not have read the directions, maybe Kotch and Duc are related, shrug.
The remote is fairly simple. It has an oscillation button, a level button (low, high, auto), a thermostat button, mode button, and an on/off button. Unfortunately, like the 24inch model, the remote is missing a Timer button, but survivable. Also, the remote does not have an LED to show any settings, you'll have to have the heater in visual range to ensure settings via remote. To address the "BEEP" level, it is basically a normal level, about the same as my microwave. Although, the 24inch model does seem somewhat quieter. For me, I could not care less, it'd of been nice to have a volume setting simply for the option, but I can live without it, and I personally could sleep through a few beeps. On a side note, the tip over function works perfectly, and actually works a bit more picky than the 24inch model. There is also a removable and cleanable filter in the back. The front of the heater also does not get to be dangerously warm to the touch, which is good for safety. DeLonghi also inserts a mailer with your heater such that you can buy an extended 2year warranty for the heater for $18 if that helps anyone make a decision.
I did mention this machine was 98% of what I expected. The only things I had kind of expected, but did not receive was that I thought the machine's heater mode has 3 STRENGTH settings and not an "auto" setting. I was hoping for a "medium" setting or an "extra high" setting for blow strength, but no biggie. In addition, the buttons on the machine itself are black on black so very hard to see what the buttons are without some type of light. The LED does not dim no matter how much time has gone by, unless it is in standby/off. And the LED does not seem to turn off TOTALLY unless the machine is unplugged.
I hope my review helps you all make a decision, I will say that I was quite toasty and comfy while typing this out! I apologize if I hurt Kotch's or Duc's feelings or misinterpreted their reviews...just wish people would not be so misleading in their reviews. I would have given the heater 4 - 4.5stars, but gave 5 stars to off-set the inaccurate reviews.

The DeLonghi TCH7590ER Ceramic Heater has an easy to use electronic control panel with a 24 hr timer. The remote control allows for easy and immediate control of all functions. The motor driven swiveling structure distributes warm air throughout the room but has a tip over safety switch that automatically turns the heater off if it accidentally falls over.
