Blue Digital Sand Timer by Polder Review

A problem was immediately apparent when I removed the Polder Digital Hourglass Kitchen Timer from its packaging: The reflection from the clear plastic covers over the LCD displays makes reading the time from more than couple of feet away very hard or impossible.
(What isn't apparent from the picture on the product page is that there are actually plastic coverings over the LCD screens, so the picture doesn't show any indication of the problem with reflection.)
A few more complaints:
(1) Although the aesthetics of the timer is quite appealing overall, the timer looks a lot more plasticky than it does in the picture from the product page. While the construction of the unit isn't exactly shoddy, it doesn't scream quality either.
(2) The timer malfunctioned on me once -- the display froze up (not sure what I did to cause that) and the only way I was able to unfreeze it was to remove the battery and put it back in.
(3) The unit is poorly packaged -- when I took the unit out of the package, it already had a few scratches on one side (probably came from the unit being bumped around in the package).
There *are* a couple of things I really like about the timer, however.
(1) When stood on one of its ends, the timer displays the clock; when it's inverted, the timer displays the countdown timer. Nifty!
(2) It continues to keep track of the time elapsed after the timer has counted down to zero.
The timer comes in red, silver, black, and white as well.
---
The Polder Digital Hourglass Kitchen Timer serves its intended purpose very well. But I would have to give it an overall rating of 3.5 stars because of the issue with the hard-to-read LCD displays and the slightly less-than-satisfactory quality of the build.

Invisible Clock Review

Invisible Clock

I really like the features available on this clock. It is a bit smaller than I anticipated. With small size comes small parts. The buttons are fine, if a little close together. The hardest part to work is the little switch on the side. When you think you have it in place, it actually isn't. The off setting is in the middle, so if you don't have it set just right, it will beep or vibrate at you. I keep in my desk drawer at work, so it sometimes goes off and startles me.

The Invisible Clock-II has a silent or an audible alert, with a switch on the side so you can choose which alert you want. So you can keep time discreetly. It's small so you can easily wear it on your waist with the garment clip, or keep it in your pocket. It can be set in just about any way imaginable so you can time just about anything. It has 5 Powerful timing features, plus a stopwatch, adjustable vibration intensity and beep volume, a quick release belt clip, illuminated display, auto button lock to protect timing events in process, and uses one AAA battery which lasts for about a year (has backup to save settings while changing battery), and auto-daylight savings time adjustment.Uses: General Reminders; Meditation - the vibration can be set to low, medium or high - on low, it is perfect for meditation as it is very quiet; ADD/ADHD; Special Needs Kids - it's often used for kids who need help remembering certain things such as paying attention in class; Wake Up Without Waking Your Partner - place it under your pillow and it is very effective for this; Medication Reminder - use the 12 alarms for medication reminders; Psychotherapy or Meetings - use the Meeting Timer to see clients without ever needing to look at the clock; Doctors and Chiropractors - Use the Custom Timer; Talks and Presentations - use the Timer or the Custom Timer for timing talks; Learning New Habits - use the Invisible Clock for learning new habits by setting the Timer on repeat to any time; Game Timer - some games need an exact timer that can be set in second increments - the Invisible Clock has this feature; Travel Alarm - with its light weight, lighted display and choice of silent or audible wake up, its great for this use; Time Management Tool - for anyone who needs help managing their time.

Audible 12-inch Time Timer Review

Great product to help students in my classroom understand concept of elapsed time. I keep it hung on the wall next to classroom clock. No learning curve. They got it right away. Students (K-5th) get more work done in same amount of time! Less dependent on me.
Down side...
Don't let kids touch this. The red part that you move is super fragile, flimsy, thin plastic and needs a light touch. Beeper does not work.

This visual timer is used to solve time perception problems at all ages and ability levels and is a perfect size for group or class settings. A graphic clock face gives the child visual understanding of time elapsing. This is ideal for timed activities and for getting ready. The Timer is visual and when the colored portion elapses, time is up. There is an optional audible component that you can turn on so that the timer BEEPS when time is up. It runs on battery operated quartz movement and can be free standing or hung on a wall.

Time Timer, 8 Inch Review

Time Timer, 8 Inch

There is both an alarmed (two quiet beep) and a non-alarmed version of this timer. I got the non-alarmed version since the "alarm" is so meaningless, but the review is pretty much the same for both. It is the only visual timer on the market, really, so if you want something of this style, you have to buy this one. It is great for glancing over and seeing immediately how much time you have left in a visual "pie chart" sort of way, without having to look for numbers or dots or anything else. That being said, this is VERY cheap and flimsy and you pay 4-5 times as much as you'd pay for any other timer. So I'm really looking forward to other people coming out with similar products that are higher quality and more reasonable in price.

In a teaching or therapy environment, no other tool communicates the concept of elapsed time as well as the time timer. it has proven to be very useful with students with autism, sensory disorder, and many special needs.

Kid'sleep Globetrotter, Green Review

Kid'sleep Globetrotter, Green

I ordered this for my 2 1/2 year old, who sometimes has a hard time waking up in a good mood, and who also has started getting out of bed on her own. I thought the day/night signal and alarm clock features of this clock would be great for her.
While we haven't had a lot of success using this clock to keep her in bed, it has been fantastic to help her wake up happy on mornings where we need to get going early. Instead of being angry at mom and dad for rousing her, the fun rooster sounds make her smile, and she feels proud for waking up on her own. The alarm lasts for about 10 seconds or so, and shuts off by itself, which is nice. The graphics are also very cute and easy for young kids to understand.
The main drawback of this clock is that it's not particularly easy to set the correct time/alarm time, but it *is* very easy for a toddler to start pushing the 2 time-setting buttons on the back to mess the whole thing up. I would have preferred to see a toggle switch with "lock", "time set" and "alarm set" features, and a way to make sure you can really keep it locked so that little fingers aren't changing the alarm time!
