It tends to eat the battery a bit when you set all functions to go off at once, but then it comes back when you just put one on... I didn't consider it a problem at all, as I use it for meditation, and didn't need a super loud beeping. Love it. Bring it back.

Blue Digital Sand Timer by Polder Review

(More customer reviews)A problem was immediately apparent when I removed the Polder Digital Hourglass Kitchen Timer from its packaging: The reflection from the clear plastic covers over the LCD displays makes reading the time from more than couple of feet away very hard or impossible.
(What isn't apparent from the picture on the product page is that there are actually plastic coverings over the LCD screens, so the picture doesn't show any indication of the problem with reflection.)
A few more complaints:
(1) Although the aesthetics of the timer is quite appealing overall, the timer looks a lot more plasticky than it does in the picture from the product page. While the construction of the unit isn't exactly shoddy, it doesn't scream quality either.
(2) The timer malfunctioned on me once -- the display froze up (not sure what I did to cause that) and the only way I was able to unfreeze it was to remove the battery and put it back in.
(3) The unit is poorly packaged -- when I took the unit out of the package, it already had a few scratches on one side (probably came from the unit being bumped around in the package).
There *are* a couple of things I really like about the timer, however.
(1) When stood on one of its ends, the timer displays the clock; when it's inverted, the timer displays the countdown timer. Nifty!
(2) It continues to keep track of the time elapsed after the timer has counted down to zero.
The timer comes in red, silver, black, and white as well.

The Polder Digital Hourglass Kitchen Timer serves its intended purpose very well. But I would have to give it an overall rating of 3.5 stars because of the issue with the hard-to-read LCD displays and the slightly less-than-satisfactory quality of the build.

The buzzer is so faint and short, that you have to be standing nearby in the kitchen to hear it. Tonight I burned what would have been a wonderful pie because I was in another room when this weak buzzer sounded-and I didn't hear a thing.
I've had it! I've just ordered the Oregon Scientific digital timer to replace this cheap thing.

It's nice that its digital and it's true that it has a solid, heavy base - but it takes too much time to set. the timer includes hours, minutes, and seconds. There is no "enter" button, so you have to wait for each time increment to pass before setting the next one. Since I usually only use minutes and am sometimes in a hurry when setting the timer, this timer was just not convenient to use.

CDN TR3 Digital Timer on a "Rope" Review

(More customer reviews)This timer is cute and lightweight (too light!) and mine did work, but it has TWO major design flaws which make it completely useless.
First of all, look at the picture. See that big circle under the LCD screen? That's the START/STOP button. It's HUGE and VERY sensitive, which means if you wear it around your neck, any time you lean over or bump anything the timer will start or stop! At times I accidentally brushed against it LIGHTLY with my arm and it stopped. How much can you trust a timer that starts and stops on its own?! What good is it?
Now, since it has a clip on the back, you could clip it onto your clothing, except for the SECOND design flaw. The clip is upside-down! If you clip it on yourself, the timer is right-side-up for the rest of the world, but when you try to look at it, it's upside-down. (Get my drift? Think of those clip-on watches...)
I'd also like to comment on the Amazon reviewer's claim that the timer is loud enough to be heard in a gym. It would have to be a mighty quiet gym....
All in all, you'd do better to shop elsewhere for your timer. In fact, after trying different ones, I would suggest buying it locally where you can really see what you're getting--and where you won't have to pay for return shipping.

My kids use this timer to time themselves while doing homework, taking turns on games etc. It's very simple to use, and is sturdy and dependable. The ring is loud enough to hear from another room, and the digital display is big and clear. The triple A battery is easy to replace. The magnet on the back is handy for keeping the timer on a file cabinet or refrigerator. The magnet is strong, so that the timer doesn't fall off. I already have 2 of these timers at home, since the kids and I use it so much. It's convenient to have one in the kitchen, one in the playroom, and one in the office, so I'm thinking of buying a 3rd.

It hangs on the side of the refrigerator and is super easy to program. It is small and LOUD!!! I have three timers going at any one time and two are 'gentle reminders' to check the ovens. NOT this one! This timer is small, demanding and the sound is not one you can't ignore! The sound is the only reason I did not give it 5 stars...but then again...THAT may be the PERFECT reason to buy it!

This is a great timer. I acquired a few other 100 hr timers on ebay in the 5 to 13 dollar range, that performed well, but I couldn't hear the alarms, so whats the point. This timer is actually 2 100 hr timers + a clock. You just press the T-1 button then set that starting time. Press T-2 button and follow suit. With 100 hrs, you can set events over 4 days in advance. I use it for everything (taking pills, various reminders, etc.), When the alarm comes in, it beeps for about 30 seconds then starts counting UP, so if you were outside and you came back in after the alarm hit, you can look at the timer to see if it has alarmed.
CONs:
Its a little pricey for modern electronics.

Since I got I don't need to worry about turning on and off my fish tank's pump, filter, thermostat and lighting. Actually I have programmed it to turn on and off the light and under gravel filter power head at intervals during the day and night (helping me to interrupt unwanted algae growth, giving some direct "light rest" to those species that like dim conditions and providing mild current to species that like it as well). I have plugged in the thermostat and my Whisper power filter in the constant power outlets so they work independently all day. My community fish tank inhabitants are happy and thriving. The only thing to care about is in case of electrical break downs, the clock has to be readjusted, which is very easy to do. I will definitely get another power center for our office fish tank. I rated a four because it is a good timer for small duty jobs such as a reminder for cooking, or anything. It has a usuable clip which doubles as a stand. The sound is pretty loud for the size (if clipped to you as directed or in the same room, if its in another room is can be a little faint), it also serves a stop watch to a certain time, which is cool too. The functionality and look of this product was good for the price, I would recommend it to friends. (Also could be great for younger users such as college dorms, barracks, etc)My husband also tested it to the other ratings for this product and said he aprroves also, if used correctly it serves its purpose. The only downside of the timer I could find, is the metal pin holding the clip onto the timer moves and need to be watched so it doesnt come loose...... OR a dot of super glue to each side if the pin does wonders!!!

The timer can be set in hours (up to 19 hours) and minutes. There is a magnet on the back to attach it to the frig. The alarm is loud and you can readily hear it in a noisy kitchen. My only gripe is that the magnet on the back is a bit small and the timer is raised, so when you press the buttons, the timer moves around on the frig surface. Would buy again.

I am a freelance writer and need to take frequent (90 minute) breaks to prevent arm, wrist and hand strain from using the computer. Never makes a mistake and the beep is loud enough, though it does have its limits -- it is not loud enough to hear in another room. PS - learning how to use it takes a minute or two, but is worth the effort.
