Polder Timer with Vibrating Alarm - White Review

Polder Timer with Vibrating Alarm - White
Average Reviews:

Simply put, this is the best, simple timer with a vibrate and light function, added. I don't know why they discontinued it. It tends to eat the battery a bit when you set all functions to go off at once, but then it comes back when you just put one on... I didn't consider it a problem at all, as I use it for meditation, and didn't need a super loud beeping. Love it. Bring it back.

Blue Digital Sand Timer by Polder Review

Blue Digital Sand Timer by Polder
Average Reviews:

A problem was immediately apparent when I removed the Polder Digital Hourglass Kitchen Timer from its packaging: The reflection from the clear plastic covers over the LCD displays makes reading the time from more than couple of feet away very hard or impossible.
(What isn't apparent from the picture on the product page is that there are actually plastic coverings over the LCD screens, so the picture doesn't show any indication of the problem with reflection.)
A few more complaints:
(1) Although the aesthetics of the timer is quite appealing overall, the timer looks a lot more plasticky than it does in the picture from the product page. While the construction of the unit isn't exactly shoddy, it doesn't scream quality either.
(2) The timer malfunctioned on me once -- the display froze up (not sure what I did to cause that) and the only way I was able to unfreeze it was to remove the battery and put it back in.
(3) The unit is poorly packaged -- when I took the unit out of the package, it already had a few scratches on one side (probably came from the unit being bumped around in the package).
There *are* a couple of things I really like about the timer, however.
(1) When stood on one of its ends, the timer displays the clock; when it's inverted, the timer displays the countdown timer. Nifty!
(2) It continues to keep track of the time elapsed after the timer has counted down to zero.
The timer comes in red, silver, black, and white as well.
---
The Polder Digital Hourglass Kitchen Timer serves its intended purpose very well. But I would have to give it an overall rating of 3.5 stars because of the issue with the hard-to-read LCD displays and the slightly less-than-satisfactory quality of the build.

Alessi Kitchen Timer by Michael Graves Review

We bought the red Alessi timer because it would have been a perfect fit for our kitchen. But, we had trouble getting it to work right and we're pretty sure that we broke it while messing with it. We're really not rough people; it just seems that the timer is much too easy to break. (Note: We learned that this timer must be turned all the way to 60 and then back to the time you want. The instructions don't say that. The timer still didn't work for us, but we think it was already broken by the time we learned about that.)

Purchased this clock for my 91 yr old grandmother because of her failing eyesight. She called me less than 2 weeks later to tell me the spring broke and flew off so we had to send it back. The previous reviews said it was worth the money, but I will keep looking for a better one.

Progressive International Little Timer Review

Progressive International Little Timer
Average Reviews:

Isn't this a cute and stylish timer? That's what I thought when I bought it...but as a timer it's useless. The buzzer is so faint and short, that you have to be standing nearby in the kitchen to hear it. Tonight I burned what would have been a wonderful pie because I was in another room when this weak buzzer sounded-and I didn't hear a thing.
I've had it! I've just ordered the Oregon Scientific digital timer to replace this cheap thing.

I had this timer, but returned it after a short time.
It's nice that its digital and it's true that it has a solid, heavy base - but it takes too much time to set. the timer includes hours, minutes, and seconds. There is no "enter" button, so you have to wait for each time increment to pass before setting the next one. Since I usually only use minutes and am sometimes in a hurry when setting the timer, this timer was just not convenient to use.

Taylor 5829 10-Key Digital Timer Review

Taylor 5829 10-Key Digital Timer
Average Reviews:

A fine timer. The input of numbers is a little aukward; the user has to enter from the left. When one uses an ATM, you push 1-2-3-4 to enter $12.34. This timer has you enter it 4-3-2-1 for 12:34. It's odd. For something like 4 seconds, most timers have you enter a 4 and that's it. This timer has you enter 0-0-0-4. As I said, a bit odd.

CDN TM4 Digital Timer - Count Down Big Digit Review

CDN TM4 Digital Timer - Count Down Big Digit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This timer is well worth the money. My kids use this timer to time themselves while doing homework, taking turns on games etc. It's very simple to use, and is sturdy and dependable. The ring is loud enough to hear from another room, and the digital display is big and clear. The triple A battery is easy to replace. The magnet on the back is handy for keeping the timer on a file cabinet or refrigerator. The magnet is strong, so that the timer doesn't fall off. I already have 2 of these timers at home, since the kids and I use it so much. It's convenient to have one in the kitchen, one in the playroom, and one in the office, so I'm thinking of buying a 3rd.

Sunbeam Programmable Digital Baking Timer Review

I am a licensed home baker and I use this timer at least 50 times in a week. It gets a workout and so do I! It hangs on the side of the refrigerator and is super easy to program. It is small and LOUD!!! I have three timers going at any one time and two are 'gentle reminders' to check the ovens. NOT this one! This timer is small, demanding and the sound is not one you can't ignore! The sound is the only reason I did not give it 5 stars...but then again...THAT may be the PERFECT reason to buy it!

Fox Run Retro Kitchen Timer with Magnet, Red Review

Fox Run Retro Kitchen Timer with Magnet, Red
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a fun little kitchen timer! Just make sure you get one that's reliable and works properly and you're good to go. Has a nice, loud bell. You can hear it in the next room unless you have your music blasting or your vacuum cleaner on.
The first one I received from Amazon would stop ticking even though I followed directions for turning the dial past the 55-minute mark and then setting it to the number of minutes I wanted. I would set it at 30 minutes or 45 minutes and it would tick briefly, then stop. But it was accurate at shorter times of 5 or 10 minutes; it would tick down and the bell would go off.
Due to its unreliability, I returned it to Amazon for an exchange of the same model. That one had the same defect.
This time I contacted the manufacturer, Fox Run Craftsmen. They sent me a replacement that has worked beautifully!
My advice is, if you get one that doesn't work, contact Fox Run Craftsmen for a replacement.
Now that I have a working one, let me say it is the cutest kitchen gadget ever! I like the fire engine red color! The size is depicted accurately as "actual size" in the photo at just about 3 inches in diameter, so it is small. The magnet is strong. It looks great on my refrigerator!
Recommended. (With above caveats.)

Sunbeam Digital Large Display Timer Review

Sunbeam Digital Large Display Timer

This timer comes with a battery to install, so you know the battery is not run down. The display is big and easy to see. The buttons are large. The timer can be set in hours (up to 19 hours) and minutes. There is a magnet on the back to attach it to the frig. The alarm is loud and you can readily hear it in a noisy kitchen. My only gripe is that the magnet on the back is a bit small and the timer is raised, so when you press the buttons, the timer moves around on the frig surface. Would buy again.

Polder Single See-Through Timer - Silver Review

I bought this on impulse for the kitchen/ cooking and discovered it is a very useful little device for timing my work. I am a freelance writer and need to take frequent (90 minute) breaks to prevent arm, wrist and hand strain from using the computer. Never makes a mistake and the beep is loud enough, though it does have its limits -- it is not loud enough to hear in another room. PS - learning how to use it takes a minute or two, but is worth the effort.

Acurite Digital Timer Kitchen Cooking Countdown Up Review

Acurite Digital Timer Kitchen Cooking Countdown Up
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had one of these timers for two years, and after countless bumps, falls and water splashes (working through all the mishaps), the tripod stand on the back finally broke off. I had tried other brand timers before this one, and this one lasted about 1 year and 11 months longer than the others. While it still works like a dream, it was a hassle, not being able to stand it up so I could see it.
Before buying this, I noticed that another reviewer said the new Acrurite timer was not as loud as the one she previously owned (same brand and model), so I was a bit apprehensive about ordering it. However, I loved my old one so much, I decided to bite the bullet and try it despite the negative review. I believe the other reviewer must have got a defective unit, because my new Acurite is every bit as loud as my old one. Yes, I did a side-by-side comparison of my old and new units.
Okay, now for the features that made me fall in love with this timer more than two years ago... The numbers and buttons are HUGE! I don't even have to wear my glasses to see it across the room. The magnet is very strong AND sturdy. I can set (and start) the timer while it's on the fridge, and it doesn't wobble (not even a little). This means it doesn't fall or drop as often as the previous timers I had. The thing I like best about this timer? It can take a lot of abuse! Even with the strong magnet on the back, there are inevitable falls and drops (like when I'm carrying it from one room to the next with wet hands). Even accidently splashing water on this timer hasn't killed it. With my previous timers, even getting a couple drops of water on them would cause them to die. Not so with this timer. Of course, I'm not recommending that one abuse his/her timer, but when you experience inevitable timer mishaps, it's not a tragedy.
Like I said, even with all the abuse my two-year old timer took, it still works as good as when it was new. I'm keeping it as a spare (for those times I forget where I put the new one).
I'm glad I gave this timer a second chance. I would suggest to the other reviewer to either call the company (if his/her timer is still under warranty) or take a chance on another one. It really IS that good!

It's a countdown/up timer. The max count range is 23 hour 59min 59sec., then the timer counts down to 00:00:00 the unit will start to alarm and count up (this will tell the user how much additional time has elapsed since the timer started sounding). The alarm will continuously sound (at 75db) for 1 minute or until the user presses the "START/STOP" button. Extra-large LCD display screen and an extended timing range (23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds) make this timer a consumer favorite. Perfect for timing marinades, yeast breads, beans, and any other longer-range project. Counts up or down. Includes large buttons, magnetic clip and stand, On/Off switch, and memory button.
