Chass "Pre-Set Solar" Travel Alarm Review

Chass Pre-Set Solar Travel Alarm
Average Reviews:

From the specs, I thought this would be the perfect travel clock. It had everything I was looking for, "always on" light the prime among them. The display is large, however the "always on" glow isn't bright enough to read the display. It's useful for locating the clock to push the button that turns on the brighter light. Only moderately happy - may try to return it.

Oregon Scientific RM962A Atomic Time Travel Clock with Indoor Thermometer Review

Oregon Scientific RM962A Atomic Time Travel Clock with Indoor Thermometer

My wife needed a new alarm clock and, having an older model Oregon alarm, I did not hesitate to get her this clock.
Pros: Interesting design, radio-adjusting ("atomic"[sic]), backlight, initially gently alarm which becomes increasingly insistant, adequate display size, great price.
Cons: A bit big to be a considered travel alarm, time zone adjustment is on the front - your time zone might be accidently changed while setting the clock, no lock to precent accidental activation in your luggage.
A good bedside clock for those who want a battery-powered alarm.
Dave

Table Top Review

Table Top

Unlike previous reviewer, I use this only as a bedside clock, not as an alarm clock, so I cannot vouch for its capability to wake you up in the morning...
What I really love about it, is the fact, that it stays dark, so it does not create any extra light in the room, and it could be temporarily illuminated by just tipping it backward.
The display is large enough, so you do not have to fumble around and squint your eyes trying to read it, and it has a thermometer as well, which I find very useful to get an idea about the indoor temperature.
Do save the instructions to be able to switch back and forth between the daylight savings time, as the setting is not very intuitive... other than that, for the price, I find this clock to be very practical, useful and quite attractive looking on top of that. I actually bought two of them for myself (bedroom and living room) and another one for a friend.

American Innovative Roadshow Lecture Timer Review

American Innovative Roadshow Lecture Timer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
One of the hardest things for me is staying within my time limits when speaking in front of my Toastmasters club. This little timer is exactly what I needed. It is easy to set up and use, and the visual indicators are easy to see. This should help me to keep within my time limits from now on. I was eager to see if the LED's were visible from 'behind' the timer. I wanted to know if this could be used by the time keeper at the club to show the time to the entire room. But the LED's are only visible from the front and from above the timer. So this will work great on the podium, but not for the entire room. Still... I love this clock and I'm going to recommend that my Toastmasters club buy their own.

American Innovative’s Roadshow Lecture Timer/Travel alarm is another Product that Makes Sense. Public speaking makes even the most confident individuals anxious. Standing in front of a room full of people is hard enough. Add a tight time constraint and that's the formula for one of the world's most common phobias. While picturing the audience in their underwear (may) help to alleviate the stress of being in the spotlight, the Roadshow excels at alleviating the other half of our fear of public speaking: timing. The solution is simple - 6 colored lamps across the top illuminate sequentially (in Auto mode) or change at intervals of your choosing (in Manual mode). Perfect for toasts, lectures, speeches, and presentations- a quick glance at the lighted pacing device helps keep you on track. The Roadshow is also a great travel companion thanks to its easy- set alarm. It is the thinnest and lightest travel alarm product in its class, (14mm wide, 3-ounce) and the informative LCD display is designed to ensure easy use. In Alarm mode, the tri-region display clearly presents the current time, the wake time and the status (On or Off).

Fulcrum Global Radio Control Travel Alarm Review

The time on this clock is automatically refreshed daily. I have used the unit in Italy. The time continually alternates between European time and British time (one hour difference). Even if I manually set the time, the refresh feature cannot be disabled. I have experimented with different locations in the house, but I can't resolve the problem. I cannot trust this clock as an alarm clock (I did once, and while the clock was correct when I went to sleep, it had gotten out of kilter by morning). It's a great idea, but it doesn't work.

I've been selling travel alarms for 22 years. The turn-bezel world alarm clocks are simply the easiest to use. (And they are harder to find than when they were at their selling heyday in the mid-90s).
After looking around I bought this one. I do like the hourly chime - and the ease of use - and it's a loud but not shrill alarm. For the very hard of hearing it may not do.
The display is easy to see, but nothing special. Really - it's the ease of use for multi-time zone travel.

I wanted a desk clock that would display time from different time zones and this clock fits the bill! It is good if you have love ones serving abroad or if you travel overseas a lot. It has a pretty good database including Kabul, Afghanistan which is an additional 10 hours and 30 minutes ahead of CST. It can sync with the major radio sync or "atomic clocks" around the world. Setting both zones it will take some time to get used. The main time is easy to read as is the temperature. The second time zone is a little smaller but will do. It is pretty compact and can be used as a travel clock. I've had this for a couple of weeks now and I've been happy with the product.

#6026 MetBLU Travel Alarm Clock Review

#6026 MetBLU Travel Alarm Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This clock is simple. It tells the time, has an alarm, a 4 min. snooze and a light which suffices. All I wanted was a basic clock that I could fold up and take with me places that is fairly sturdy and this is it. The minute I took it out of the box I set the time then dropped it on the floor from different heights numerous times and tilted it around to see if the time/display would be affected. It wasn't, this clock keeps the time if you drop it or it falls, I've had it for about a month and it has only gained one minute, which actually helps me because I get out the door and to class with that little extra. The alarm itself is somewhat quiet, which I thought at first would be a problem, but it hasn't failed yet to wake me up every morning during the first stage of it's going off. And it doesn't have that typical, extremely obnoxious "WAH! WAH!" alarm, which I can't stand and actually makes me wake up frightened, this one's just fast beeping that gets louder and faster as it goes, seems to wake me up and I haven't yet gotten used to it to where it isn't effective. The back-light is a little lame (I was used to the neat blue bright lights), from what I can tell it's just two small bulbs or something behind the display, but this does not make the time hard to see in the dark. It makes the display somewhat transluscent and you can see the numbers perfectly fine in the pitch black, the absence of an annoying blue light just takes a day or two to get used to. I'm actually really happy with this clock, as happy as you can be with a simple clock. It would be nice if it had a 24-hr. option, but that's just my preference. All in all, it's only 9-10 dollars, it's sturdy and the display doesn't crap out when it drops or tilts, the display is large enough to see from across a small room like a bedroom, the buttons don't feel like they'll fall off or pop out in a month or two, and it has worked well for me. If you're jsut looking for something basic that will get you up in the morning and tell you the time when you need it, I'd suggest this one (I purchased several others by timex and other companies in the same price range, 10-15 dollars and they were all extremely crappy, one had a display that actually wavered so bad you couldn't read the time when you tilted it at all in any direction other than upright. This one was definitely the best, hopefully it lasts a few years.) I gave it three stars not because it's a bad clock, just because it's basic. Good value though.

LCD Alarm Clock Review

LCD Alarm Clock
Average Reviews:

I like using nap timer/alarm clocks because they are not electric. Also, you can set your own snooze time instead of the automatic times set for most alarm clocks. I have had Timex nap timers that are wonderful; however, I can no longer find them anywhere. I ended up seeing the Elgin nap timer and thought that I would give it a try. What I do like about the nap timer function is that when you set the amount of time you want to nap (I also use it when I do laundry) you can push the nap timer function and see how much time is left. What I don't like about it is the tiny "slide control" of the Snooze, Alarm On and Alarm Off. You need a strong fingernail to manuver it and you can forget about manuvering it with your fingertip. The "slide control" to set the alarm time, calendar or lock the times in place is the same, but their function can be set and left alone, for the most part. Another thing that I particularily did not like was that the shipping cost was 43% of the total cost of the product. That is a bit steep.

BRAUN AB1A Quartz Travel Clock (Black) Review

BRAUN AB1A Quartz Travel Clock (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had this little clock for quite some time; despite the fact that most hotel rooms come with clocks, I prefer my travel alarm.
1. It's analog and easy to set.
2. The alarm is pleasant, and the button on top is easy to find when one is groping around in the dark.
3. The clock is barely the size of half a pack of cigarettes and only slightly thicker.
4. It only takes one AA battery and is sparing of the power; the battery lasts a long time.
5. It is so reasonably priced that I can throw one in each of my suitcases; the overnight bag and the one I take for a week or two.
6. It's actually nice enough to make a desk clock, especially if you have a small desk.
This is a wonderful little present for anyone who travels. Or if you travel, it's a must-have.

Travel Companion Radio Controlled Alarm Clock, LED Flashlight, Thermometer Review

Travel Companion Radio Controlled Alarm Clock, LED Flashlight, Thermometer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
***THOUGHTS***
I waited 3 months to write this review because I wanted to be sure this plastic atomic clock didn't break or anything. I sort of expected it to be junk, considering the price and the omission of a name brand. But it turns out to actually be a cool and intuitive device, and I am quite glad I bought this. Incidentally, as a guy, I was thrilled to see that the one I received was a black/silver clock, instead of the white/orange one pictured. Strangely, there was no brand or company name anywhere on the clock, in the instructions, within the amazon listing, or even inside the battery compartment. This is odd, especially considering the great quality and low price. It does have "Made in China" printed on the back in small letters, so at least I know it's from Earth.***
The clock is easy to set, the backlight is pleasant without being overpowering, and the flashlight feature consists of 2 bright white LEDs, which are super-handy and simple to use. The clock's internal antenna receives the NIST time signal well, and it has an accurate internal thermometer which measures the room temperature. The clock's detailed instructions were printed on 2 sides of a single page, in American English only, and they went right to the point and were actually useful. The battery compartment cover was easy to remove, and there was a "reset" button inside, as well as room for 4 AAA batteries. ***
***ALARM AND DISPLAY***
The alarm sound is loud enough, and it comes from the rear speaker, above the battery compartment. It sounds like this: one beep, one beep, one beep, one beep, two beeps, two beeps, two beeps, two beeps, three beeps, three beeps, three beeps, three beeps, and then it has four beeps that keep repeating, until either the snooze button is pressed or the alarm is switched off. The alarm sound stays at the same volume the whole time. It is important to realize that the buttons which set the alarm time are active whenever the alarm is switched on, and the button that allows display-editing is active even when the alarm is not switched on. Therefore, you might consider using the "key lock" setting during most of your waking hours, in case you pick up the clock, to prevent the clock's display and alarm time from being accidentally changed. ***
The clock's display shows the digits 0-9 to represent the month, day, hour, minutes, seconds, and room temperature. It also shows 7 icons: day of the week (SUN, MON, TUE, WED, THU, FRI, or SAT, appearing to the right of the day), the chosen time format (24-HR, or either AM or PM, appearing to the left of the hour), the snooze-setting is activated (Zz, appearing above the colon in the time), the alarm is activated ([sound symbol], appearing below the colon in the time), the chosen continental US time zone (P, M, C, or E, appearing above the seconds), daylight savings time is on (DST, appearing below the time zone), and the chosen temperature format (C or F, appearing above the tenth of a degree in the temperature). ***
***THE 5 BUTTONS***
The clock has 2 large buttons and 3 small buttons. The large "snooze/light" button on top activates a soft orange glowing backlight behind the clock's display for 5 seconds, and it also serves as a snooze button. The large unlabeled button on bottom is an elongated clear oval that surrounds the LEDs. When the flashlight is switched to "auto" (explained later), pressing this unlabeled button turns off the LEDs, such as when the clock is set down on its bottom (not on its back), perhaps upon a table. ***
The clock has 3 buttons on the side, for setting the clock and alarm. There is a "+" button, a "-" button, a "set/wave" button, and a fourth "blank" button-shape that is not actually a button at all. Pressing the "+" button or the "-" button sets the alarm time (+ up, - down). Holding instead of pressing either button will go through the alarm time much faster. Pressing the "set/wave" button (it will beep once) manually forces the clock to search for the NIST time signal, which the clock does automatically every midnight anyway. Pressing it again stops the search. Holding instead of pressing the "set/wave" button (it will beep twice after a few seconds) puts the clock into a display-editing mode. ***
In this display-editing mode, 5 different items on the display will blink whenever it is their turn to be set. Cycle through the 5 items with the "set/wave" button, and use the "+" and "-" buttons to set those items; holding instead of pressing the "+" and "-" buttons will go through the choices for each item much faster. The 5 items are: 1. the 4 continental US time zones (+) and daylight saving time on or off (-), 2. the year (+ up, - down), 3. the date (+ up, - down), 4. the time (+ up, - down), and 5. the 12 or 24 hour format (+) and the Celsius or Fahrenheit temperature format (-). ***
***THE 2 SWITCHES***
The clock has 2 small switches. One deals with the flashlight, the other with the alarm. The flashlight switch, labeled "torch", has 3 settings: "off", "on", and "auto". The "auto" setting means that the 2 LEDs will turn off whenever the clock is set down on its bottom (not on its back), and they will turn on whenever the clock is picked up or knocked over, as long as the elongated clear oval button on the bottom is allowed to extend out from the clock. Additionally, when the flashlight is switched to "on" in a dark room and the device is set down on its bottom, perhaps upon a table, the LEDs will stay lit and be visible through the clear sides of the flashlight, providing enough light to read by, but not so much that they will wake others up. ***
The alarm switch has 4 settings: "snz" (snooze), "al on" (alarm is on), "al off" (alarm is off), and "key lock". The "snz" setting and the "al on" setting both activate the alarm time, so that the alarm will sound once at that time every day, and when the snooze/light button is pressed, it will stop. But, the "snz" setting also allows the alarm to sound again every 5 minutes, until the switch is set to "al off" or "key lock". The "al off" setting and the "key lock" setting both deactivate the alarm. But, the "key lock" setting also deactivates the snooze/light button on the top and the 3 buttons on the side. The "key lock" setting is to be used when this device is tossed in a travel bag and you don't want the clock or alarm setting themselves or the backlight to come on; the "key lock" setting does not deactivate the flashlight, which must be switched off on its own. ***
