Oregon Scientific RM962A Atomic Time Travel Clock with Indoor Thermometer Review

Oregon Scientific RM962A Atomic Time Travel Clock with Indoor Thermometer
Average Reviews:

My wife needed a new alarm clock and, having an older model Oregon alarm, I did not hesitate to get her this clock.
Pros: Interesting design, radio-adjusting ("atomic"[sic]), backlight, initially gently alarm which becomes increasingly insistant, adequate display size, great price.
Cons: A bit big to be a considered travel alarm, time zone adjustment is on the front - your time zone might be accidently changed while setting the clock, no lock to precent accidental activation in your luggage.
A good bedside clock for those who want a battery-powered alarm.
Dave

Fulcrum Global Radio Control Travel Alarm Review

Fulcrum Global Radio Control Travel Alarm

The time on this clock is automatically refreshed daily. I have used the unit in Italy. The time continually alternates between European time and British time (one hour difference). Even if I manually set the time, the refresh feature cannot be disabled. I have experimented with different locations in the house, but I can't resolve the problem. I cannot trust this clock as an alarm clock (I did once, and while the clock was correct when I went to sleep, it had gotten out of kilter by morning). It's a great idea, but it doesn't work.

#6026 MetBLU Travel Alarm Clock Review

#6026 MetBLU Travel Alarm Clock

This clock is simple. It tells the time, has an alarm, a 4 min. snooze and a light which suffices. All I wanted was a basic clock that I could fold up and take with me places that is fairly sturdy and this is it. The minute I took it out of the box I set the time then dropped it on the floor from different heights numerous times and tilted it around to see if the time/display would be affected. It wasn't, this clock keeps the time if you drop it or it falls, I've had it for about a month and it has only gained one minute, which actually helps me because I get out the door and to class with that little extra. The alarm itself is somewhat quiet, which I thought at first would be a problem, but it hasn't failed yet to wake me up every morning during the first stage of it's going off. And it doesn't have that typical, extremely obnoxious "WAH! WAH!" alarm, which I can't stand and actually makes me wake up frightened, this one's just fast beeping that gets louder and faster as it goes, seems to wake me up and I haven't yet gotten used to it to where it isn't effective. The back-light is a little lame (I was used to the neat blue bright lights), from what I can tell it's just two small bulbs or something behind the display, but this does not make the time hard to see in the dark. It makes the display somewhat transluscent and you can see the numbers perfectly fine in the pitch black, the absence of an annoying blue light just takes a day or two to get used to. I'm actually really happy with this clock, as happy as you can be with a simple clock. It would be nice if it had a 24-hr. option, but that's just my preference. All in all, it's only 9-10 dollars, it's sturdy and the display doesn't crap out when it drops or tilts, the display is large enough to see from across a small room like a bedroom, the buttons don't feel like they'll fall off or pop out in a month or two, and it has worked well for me. If you're jsut looking for something basic that will get you up in the morning and tell you the time when you need it, I'd suggest this one (I purchased several others by timex and other companies in the same price range, 10-15 dollars and they were all extremely crappy, one had a display that actually wavered so bad you couldn't read the time when you tilted it at all in any direction other than upright. This one was definitely the best, hopefully it lasts a few years.) I gave it three stars not because it's a bad clock, just because it's basic. Good value though.

LCD Alarm Clock Review

LCD Alarm Clock

I like using nap timer/alarm clocks because they are not electric. Also, you can set your own snooze time instead of the automatic times set for most alarm clocks. I have had Timex nap timers that are wonderful; however, I can no longer find them anywhere. I ended up seeing the Elgin nap timer and thought that I would give it a try. What I do like about the nap timer function is that when you set the amount of time you want to nap (I also use it when I do laundry) you can push the nap timer function and see how much time is left. What I don't like about it is the tiny "slide control" of the Snooze, Alarm On and Alarm Off. You need a strong fingernail to manuver it and you can forget about manuvering it with your fingertip. The "slide control" to set the alarm time, calendar or lock the times in place is the same, but their function can be set and left alone, for the most part. Another thing that I particularily did not like was that the shipping cost was 43% of the total cost of the product. That is a bit steep.

I bought this item because it has a "smart lite" that stays on all night - problem is that you must have the alarm ON to use this feature.
Other compalaint:the function switch for setting time and alarm is too small, stiff, and difficult to get into the correct postiton.

This Bulova Travel Alarm is nicely designed but even the second one failed to work. The units are sent with the batteries installed and active (for who knows how long) and thus we could not read the screen on the first one we received. Not knowing if it was the battery or other problems, I sought a replacement. The Company, Weatherbuffs, was outstanding and arranged for a replacement immediately and conveniently. Unfortunately, when the second Bulova arrived directly from Bulova, it didn't work at all! I checked the battery and it was fully charged and yet nothing would work.
Again, Weatherbuffs was super and refunded our money immediately. I am very satisfied with Weatherbuffs - excellent customer service. It was the Bulova Travel Alarm that failed me - twice!

This clock is a replacement for same clock that I had for over 15 years. This clock is identical to the one I had before. The sound of the alarm is the only thing that I see that is different. Moshi Interactive Voice Recognition Travel Alarm Clock White Review

Moshi Interactive Voice Recognition Travel Alarm Clock White
Average Reviews:

I purchased this item with not the highest expectations. Basically I wanted to get my brother a cool travel alarm clock with some kind of new technology. I figured if there was any kind of voice activation feature, great, but really I just wanted to get him something cheap and interesting and this seemed to be a good fit.
First thing I noticed: it's a lot tinier than I expected! Fits in the palm of your hand.
Second: as long as you speak clearly, the voice activation works great and is very intuitive! I even heard him moan 'shut off' one morning when it went off and even though I thought he was barely legible, it worked.
He's extremely happy with the present, and I am too.
PS- the alarm sounds are, um, interesting (read: bizarre choices), but certainly effective. I like the bells.

Casio Auto Calendar Digital Travel Alarm Clock Review

Casio Auto Calendar Digital Travel Alarm Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This clock works well as a battery operated alarm clock. However, Casio really could have thought through the "travel" part better. Although it's light enough, it's too large for a travel clock. And there's no cover for the controls, so my first set of batteries died when something in my bag pressed against the snooze/light button for the whole flight. If you're looking for a battery operated alarm for your nightstand, this is a decent clock. If you really want a travel alarm, look elsewhere (or at least pack the batteries separately).

Braun AB1 Alarm Clock Silver Review

Braun AB1 Alarm Clock Silver

I'm a fan of Braun design, and have a small collection of the company's alarm clocks. The AB1 is one the smaller variants, and is a very simple alarm. Uses one AA battery. Basically it is on or off. No lights, no snooze, no extras. Just a simple alarm. Braun stopped making clocks, and they are collectible, so prices tend to be high. Black is the classic Braun clock color, but this one is painted metallic silver.

Seiko Travel Alarm Get Up and Glow Clock Soft Silver-Tone Metallic Case Review

Seiko Travel Alarm Get Up and Glow Clock Soft Silver-Tone Metallic Case
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I don't like it. Here's why:
1. It looks cheap. In the photo here on Amazon, it looks shiny like metal. In reality, it's a cheap-looking plastic.
2. The clock hand that sets the alarm moves in only one direction. So if you overshoot the time you want, you can't just nudge it back ... you have to go all the way around the face again.
3. It's very difficult to move the clock hand that sets the alarm. The dial for this is stiff and awkward. I have long, slender fingers and find it difficult. I imagine that someone with chubby fingers would find it impossible. Additionally, it's impossible to nudge the hand a little bit. So if you undershoot, you have to go all the way around again.
4. The hand that sets the alarm is very short, which means that the end of it is far from the numbers on the face. It's impossible to be precise about the alarm time you're setting.

Samsonite Dual Time LCD Travel Alarm Clock Review

Samsonite Dual Time LCD Travel Alarm Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had this for about 8 months now.
Good: Keeps good time. Battery shows no signs of going down. The dual time zones are nice. I always know what time it is at home while I'm in Europe, Middle East etc. (Not good to forget what time it is at home and call my wife at 3:00am to say Hi!).
Bad: Fragile. I dropped it once and had to reassemble the pieces. The backlight is worthless. It's actually a little lamp at one side of the display and only serves to glare out the numbers while it's on. You need to turn on a room light to see what time it is. The wheel you turn to set the local time zone has no detents. I must have had it between settings once and ended up 1 hour late for a meeting. The disk battery may be difficult to find if it dies on me while I'm in a third world country.

I have been trying to find a reliable device that keeps excellent time, is easy to maintain, simple to use, portable and not loaded with a bunch of useless features. I wanted such a device to set all of our watches and clocks by. This is THE device. I have tested it against a Casio PAW500 atomic watch and they were both exactly the same. This atomic alarm clock runs on a battery that is easily replaceable. Excellent item, great quality. A rare find in todays world where everything is made in China of inferior materials and no quality control.

I didn't listen to the complaints from the other reviewers, and I purchased this clock. Big mistake. Batteries are very difficult to put into the unit and they have to be jammed in to close the back. The plastic lip that is supposed to support the clock in the open position broke off, so I can't use the clock in the open position as it is supposed to do. Amazon should consider not offering this item any more. I purchased this unit over another only because I have the Prime shipping option.

Wake up on time while on the road to the loud beep of this folding travel alarm clock. From Equity by La Crosse, the quartz analog clock folds for travel into its protective black plastic case with brass trim. The clock features a classic dial design with black minute markers and easy-to-read numbers against a white face. To specify the time, black clock hands point to the appropriate hour and minute while a red clock hand ticks off seconds. The hour and minute hands and the hour marker dots benefit from luminous centers, glowing faintly for nighttime viewing. An additional hand indicates the set alarm time. For setting the time and alarm, knobs are provided on the back of the clock face; a switch turns the alarm on and off. The clock requires the separate purchase of one AA battery. A limited manufacturer warranty covers this item. When open, the travel clock measures 3-1/2 inches wide by 3-1/2 inches deep by 2-1/2 inches high when open. The folded clock measures 1 inch thick.
