Ours went out after 3 years and we called the company and they said it was only supposed to work for 3 to 5 years. They sent out a new, free, but this is nothing to pass on to your kids. Garage sale stuff.

(More customer reviews)I had the same issue as one of the other reviewers where my volume knob did not work... so I returned to Amazon and ordered from another vendor believing Amazon received a bad lot. I was correct, second clock worked perfectly.
This is a "Great" little clock radio... easy to use and to set alarms. Separate dial knobs in the rear make setting the time and two alarms a breeze. My wife loves the ease of use as well. She never used the old clock ever though it was dual alarm (she did not want to learn the crazy process of setting the old clock) but now she is always using this one. Thing is so simple you barely need a manual but don't worry its there and fairly easy to follow. Lots of options on this clock, alarm from radio to buzzer that slow escalates in volume, radio has digital tuning. Line option for MP3 player and variable brightness for clock. Clock can be analog or digital. My wife likes this as well, she thinks its cute. Snooze and sleep timer are programmable and the alarm even works if power is out ... though have not tested this feature yet.
In short, the clock with its small footprint was exactly what we wanted... only reason why I did not give it highest rating was due to first unit with faulty volume knob.

The hands and face are not covered by a glass or plastic cover,so I suppose they may have to be dusted occasionally. No big deal. For the price we could not find a better looking clock.

(More customer reviews)The shape and style of this clock are very nice. The wood is finished well, and the small brass touches are just the right detail, as is the curved glass face. The best thing, however, is that, though the design is traditional, the works are the latest thing. I put in the one AA battery required, and within a minute*, the hands on the clock began turning and the accurate time was up very shortly.
*Just a heads-up for the potential purchaser of this item: I tried two batteries before the one that finally worked, and I thought (hoped) they were dead batteries because the clock did nothing. Not a quiver. I installed the third battery and set the clock aside to read the instructions over again to see if I was doing something wrong. When I looked back at the clock, it was working away! It seems that it takes a minute for the clock to find the satellite. There was nothing wrong with the first two batteries at all. So, be patient, folks.

The picture of the clock shows one that was made in USA, but the clock I got was made in China so I am worried about its durability since I got a Chinese one that lasted less than 2 years and my American made one lasted 17 years. The clock looks differently from the picture as well.

(More customer reviews)I was given this watch as a gift in November of 2006. Less than one year later I noticed the time was 5 minutes slow. After several emails with the distributor to correct the problem, I was told to ship the watch back. When I received the watch, the problem was fixed for about 2 or 3 weeks then it went back to being 5 minutes slow again. I emailed the company again, several times, and so far they've ignored me.
Great concept but not worth the price tag if they can't stand behind the product.

(More customer reviews)The clock looks almost exactly as it does in the picture (for me) - the hands appeared a little reddish on my computer but they are actually brown which matches the metal frame. I've been looking for a smaller clock for awhile and all the ones either online or in stores looked too tacky or were just too expensive. I have re-done my master bathroom to have more of a spa-like feeling and I wanted a simple, elegant clock to fit into that decor. This clock fit the bill for me. This is the second "Chaney Instruments" clock I have bought (the other was through a local department store). That clock also has a metal frame, more like a medium-oak color. It has Roman numerals and also has that elegant, simple look. Also at a very reasonable price. Based on these 2 clocks, I would look at "Chaney Instruments" clocks first - can't beat the combination of price/quality.
Clock arrived well packed and earlier than expected.

(More customer reviews)This clock looks beautiful on the wall. However, the ticking is quite loud. I originally had it placed on a wall about 10 feet to the side of our TV, but the ticking was just too annoying. We had to take it down. I wrote to the clock manufacturer to see if there was any way to silence the tick and was told "All step mode clocks are ticking. If it bothers you, you have to buy sweep mode clocks." They responded quickly and did offer to take the clock back. However, the time and expense to return it is hardly worth it since it is an inexpensive item.
I am not sure how to tell if a clock is "step mode" or "sweep mode" from the descriptions I've seen on Amazon. Would be nice if the product description for all wall clocks stated whether or not there is an audible tick tock.

(More customer reviews)This is a nice looking clock, with good-sized, readable numbers, but a couple of issues to be aware of. It does have kind of a loud tick, but okay, I can live with that. The face is just a little darker than it appears in the photo, and so at times, when there is glare on the glass (it's in a sunny room), it can be a little harder to read. All of these are relatively minor and still outweighed by the overall quality of the clock. The biggest problem that I had with it was that when it first arrived, the workings on the back of the clock were not adequately attached to the face, so that the hands would just rotate wildly at the slightest touch. I sent that first one back, thinking it was just a fluke. Well, the second one arrived with the exact same problem, just to a lesser degree. So I decided that if I lined it up perfectly and glued it at the back, I could live with it. And it has been just fine. But I still do think that for the price, better quality control is in order.

(More customer reviews)Although the hands of the clock don't seem to be very sturdy, there's no problem with them once the clock is in place. I did think that the background of the clock looked better in the picture than in person because it almost looks like it is made out of paper (the entire background is printed), but unless you are inspecting it up close, it's not that noticeable. I am satisfied with the clock and do think it's a very nice clock for the price.
