(More customer reviews)A square stainless steel wall clock is not the easiest thing to find, so finding this one--even at a price I initially thought was a little on the high side for a wall clock--was a relief.
It has almost everything I'd been looking for--crisp steel case, clean modern face and hands, big enough to be seen across a loft space, and some heft connoting its quality.
The clock's mechanism is a typical rear-mounted single AA battery powered device with a rotating disc to set the time--nothing you haven't seen or used before.
It is constructed well enough, though I was a little disappointed that the hanger flange isn't perfectly flush with the frame, so it won't sit totally flat against the wall without a minor adjustment--it's probably just an anomalous construction defect.
It does tick, so for super sound sensitive people, I wouldn't recommend it for a sleeping area. That said, it's as close to what I wanted without having one custom made--perfect for your sleek, contemporary interior.

(More customer reviews)This clock is everything and more than I expected. I have a kitchen with red cabinets and needed a new kitchen clock. I viewed online over 583 different clocks and chose this one. After I ordered it, an orange & pink numbered clock arrived and I was heartbroken. It did not look good in my kitchen at all. I contacted the merchant within 10 minutes of opening the box. They said they would send out a replacement. Well... within 3 days the merchant sent an email via Amazon that the black/red clock was no longer avaiable and they would refund the cost plus the shipping and I could keep the "incorrect" clock free of charge. I sent an email to the merchant and explained that I really, I mean really wanted the black/red clock and could they PLEASE try to find one. Well nearly two weeks later, the UPS man brought a package to the door and when I opened it, guess what? Yep, it was the black/red clock. The merchant included a return no cost shipping for the orange/pink clock. But the incredible fact was that the merchant did not charge me for the black/red clock and I had to contact Amazon to tell them I wanted to pay for the clock as the merchant went above and beyond to make me happy. Thank you to Amazon and to this wonderful merchant. Amazon is wonderful when there is a problem and is great anyway. I have bought from Amazon for YEARS and this was my first ever return, everything was handled beautifully with my needs thought of first. And every day when I check the time in the kitchen I always think of the great merchant and of course, Amazon.com!!!

(More customer reviews)This should be fairly obvious by just looking at a picture of the clock - if you want precision, look elsewhere. (There is only one ball that marks the hour.) If you can put up with knowing the time with a tolerance of plus or minus 10 minutes or so, this should work for you. The "cool" factor makes up for the lack or precision, I guess.
The clock works as advertised and does get noticed. But you probably don't want this clock to be the only timepiece in your home.

(More customer reviews)Everyone visiting our house notices the clock. I have it setting where I can even see it from outside on the deck and I know what time it is. The colored lights are bright enough to be seen through the window glass and from quite a distance.
When the power goes out, it is a pain to reset. I can't remember if you can add batteries for a back up. If so, I should do that.
We love it, especially at notable times like 10:00 PM when only one dot is lighted. The patterns change continually and can be habit forming to watch.
Was delivered very quickly. Timely you might say.

However, the kids cannot read the time well - and most of the time - we ended up using other ways to tell time. It's not big - and thus, difficult to tell the exact time since the clock is hung up quite high. I would say that this is more a decorative item than a functional item. It is definitely not for regular time telling - given it's level of difficulty, and the small size, plus the fact that - the clock has to be hung (note - cannot be place on counter or console table as there's no stand for it).

(More customer reviews)I just ordered my second Pick Me Up Alarm clock. My first one has been great. The alarm starts off quiet and then ramps up if you ignore it. The light is subtle enough that it doesn't blind you, but adequately lights the clock face. I like that you don't have to hit a separate snooze button - you just pick up the clock and then place it back down to activate the snooze function. It was the perfect combination of functionality and style - so that is why I'm buying #2. #1 has been thrown to the ground a few to many times by my toddler - it still works, but only if you keep the battery perfectly positioned hanging out of the electrodes. Any little jiggle and the battery contacts won't work.
An FYI - the snooze stops working if you sleep in more than an hour!!

(More customer reviews)I purchased two of these clocks for the alarm function and their design. The clocks look great, but I would strongly advise testing them before you throw away the packaging. One clock ran fine and the alarm seemed to beep at the right time. On the second clock, the alarm went off *half an hour* after the time for which it was set. I sent that one back to Amazon, who quickly sent a replacement. The replacement was a little better, but the alarm on that one is five minutes off (to the late side). I had ordered another kind of Bai clock and it too had time-keeping problems, and thus was sent back. If you have time to play the multiple return game, then you might want to purchase a Bai clock and find one that works well. If you don't have time or the inclination to send items back when they don't work, then I would not recommend these clocks. It's too bad their manufacturer is not more reliable because the designs are great.
Given the quality of the manufacturing and the materials from which the clocks are made (plastic), these clocks strike me as overpriced for what you get.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because when the time flips over to a new hour, the "00"s flip first on time like they should, but the hour flip is delayed about 15 seconds. Throws you off when it says 1:00 for that 15 seconds when it should say 2:00.
It takes 2 C size batteries, which usually arn't just hanging around the house so don't forget to pick some up!

(More customer reviews)I am always fascinated by clocks which tell the time in unusual ways. This clock, designed by David Dear in 2003, was unlike anything else I had in my collection so I couldn't resist purchasing it. It has a pleasing appearance and feels substantial when held, not flimsy like many clocks with plastic parts (it is partly made of metal). The top has a small round opening which clicks off the seconds. The minutes and hours are easy to read and clearly lined up with the red line which indicates the time. The clock is easy to set and it runs on one AA battery. What impresses me the most is how amazingly accurate it keeps the time, which if course is the most important reason to have a clock. I keep checking it day to day against my computer time and it is right on the mark. The only drawback to its design is that it does not have an alarm and is strictly designed to read the time. If you are interested in owning an accurate timepiece, that is also a designed beautifully as well as being a conversation starter, this clock will fit the bill perfectly.

(More customer reviews)A present from my son. It gives a new way of looking at what time it is--there are analog timepieces, there are digital timepieces, and now there are binary timepieces. If a light is on only in the lowest row=1, light on only in second row=2, light on only in lowest two rows=3, light on only in third row=4, and so on. You can look at this clock as a simple amusement about different ways of seeing what time it is, and you can look at it and use it to help you contemplate how humans think/talk in different languages, and how those humans might think differently inside and never realize the many ways it is possible that other humans may think and perceive the world differently. After all, this clock is about telling one basic thing, time, in a different way than you ever have before. What about all the other experiences we humans may look at in different ways/ OK, down from the heavy stuff, it's a neat toy to put on your desk, yet still a reminder that there are a lot of different ways of looking at such basic things as "what time it is".
