La Crosse Technology Weather Channel WS-7034TWC-IT Wireless Thermometer Review

This is a great digital thermometer which works very well. It remembers the lowest and highest temperatures it measures, which is great for recording those low morning temps, and it also displays the time. Initial set up is very easy and straightforward. The batteries last at least a year. The only downside is that the outdoor transmitter is not weatherproof, so it has to be protected from the elements. Other than that, this is a quality, inexpensive, digital thermometer which I recommend.

Large Display Digital Indoor Outdoor Thermometer by Sper Scientific Review

I make most of my shopping choices based on Amazon ratings ... and as I was trying to find a thermometer; from reading other ratings, I found that I wanted one with a wire, rather than wireless - I wanted a simple thermometer with maximum and minimum temperatures and it needed to have big numbers and no clock or humidity and I found it all in this Sper Scientific indoor-outdoor thermometer with minimum & maximum - it is perfect - works really great so far - Sper [...] makes much more complicated scientific tools, that is why I went with this unrated thermometer. In the past I have had poor experiences with Oregon Scientific and Lacrosse being too complicated ... this one is great!

Polder Cooking Thermometer with Timer and Clock Review

Polder Cooking Thermometer with Timer and Clock
Average Reviews:

This is a great item to have in your kitchen. It makes cook so much easier. You can tell exactly when a roast is done or a chicken is cooked to a high enough temp.
You can set the clock to beep at a certain time, or at a set temperature. I like that it has a magnet on the back. I'm able to store my unit on the refridgerator and use it as a timer too.
It is a small unit and that makes for easy storage.
Although I haven't had any problems with mine yet, I'd just be warned that all over the directions it talks about the damage that water and other liquids can cause. I'm very careful with my unit, but I can see how, with very little effort, it can be ruined by liquids.
I did some research before buying this. I found that there were cheaper ones out there that won't work as well or may have more problems. I also found better quality ones that don't seem so fragile, but they were also much more expensive. For the money, I thought this was one of the best buys.
If something did happen and I ruined this one, I'd buy a new one with out hesitation. It is just that useful to have around.

La Crosse Technology WS-9029U Wireless Weather Station with Digital Time Review

La Crosse Technology WS-9029U Wireless Weather Station with Digital Time
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently started homebrewing beer, and I bought this thermometer about six weeks ago to monitor the temperature of the beer as it ferments.
General comments:
- I like the size of the base. It's not some huge contraption that takes up a lot of room on my desk. I don't need it to predict the weather, I just wanted something to tell me the temperature locally, and at a remote sensor (which it does well!).
- The base LCD offers good contrast, as long as you look down at it slightly. At perpendicular, and anything below that (ie: if you look up at it), the LCD appears fuzzy and dim. But I compared this to my other digital thermometer, and it suffers from the same problem, I'd just never noticed it before. The screen is not backlit, but if I need to see it in the dark, I just turn on my computer monitor, my cell phone, etc.
- The unit seems to be quite sensitive to small temperature changes. For bigger, more sudden changes in temperature, both the sensor and the base seem to take longer than my older digital thermometer to settle on a single temp. I'm not entirely sure about the accuracy, but it's never more than about 1F off from my other thermometers.
- I REALLY like the remote sensor probe cord thingy. I didn't realize it was included when I placed my order, but I'm really glad it was. The probe cord is a few feet long, and it allows me to measure the temperature of the side of my beer fermenter as well as the ambient temperature of the air at the remote sensor. You may not have a similar use for it, but for those who do have a use for it, it's invaluable. Don't worry, if you don't need it, you're not forced to do something with the cord (ie: coil it up); you can unplug it from the sensor.
- I've read a lot of gripes from owners of other thermometers about the base station not being able to get a signal from the remote sensor through walls. I keep my base station about 15 feet from the remote sensor, which in my case takes the signal through one wall and one closet door. There's a little indicator on the base that blinks to tell you when the base is receiving the sensor's signal. I monitor it pretty frequently and I've never had a signal problem.
- The instructions say that the batteries are supposed to last two years (!).
- The humidity reading is only reported for the humidity at the base (not the sensor). This may or may not matter to you.
Minor annoyances:
- The base LCD seems to be a little dim when using rechargeable (AA) batteries. The instructions specifically recommend alkalines. The remote sensor, however, seems to be doing fine with my rechargeable AAA's.
- The genius who designed the thermometer tied the 24-hour clock option to the Celsius option. In other words, you get both 24-hour + Celsius, or 12-hour + Fahrenheit.
- I have to press a button on the base to toggle between the ambient temperature at the sensor and the temperature at the end of the probe cord.
Conclusion: Judging by the first six weeks of usage, this is a simple, yet solid wireless thermometer. You should purchase it if you want a no-frills way to monitor the temperature of a nearby location.

Monitor the outdoor air temperature and check soil temperature with this compact wireless weather station and its optional, waterproof probe. From La Crosse Technology, the weather station allows users to check the indoor temperature and humidity levels, assess outdoor temperatures, and keep track of the time.
Equipped for wall hanging or tabletop display, the weather station’s receiver conveys climate conditions and the time on an easy-to-read LCD screen with adjustable contrast. The receiver registers indoor temperatures from 14.1 to 139.8 degrees F and indoor humidity levels from 1 to 99 percent. By pressing the MIN/MAX button on the receiver’s two-button interface, the user can observe the recorded minimum and maximum temperatures and humidity levels. The receiver’s clock conveys time in either 12- or 24-hour formats. Likewise, temperatures are expressed in either Fahrenheit or Celsius degrees. To monitor outdoor temperatures, the weather station provides a TX25U wireless sensor and its detachable 10-foot wire probe. A small LCD screen on the sensor offers the outdoor temperature reading. Measuring outdoor temperatures from -39.8 to +139 degrees F, the sensor transmits to the receiver from up to 330 feet away at a 915 MHz frequency. The probe plugs into the sensor for transmitting additional temperature readings via the weather station’s second channel. For the best results, mount the sensor with its wall-mount stand in a dry, shaded area. The weather station accommodates up to three remote sensors total. To power the weather station, the separate purchase of two AA batteries and two AAA batteries is required. A limited one-year warranty covers this product. The weather station receiver measures approximately 3 inches wide by 1-1/5 inches deep by 3-5/6 inches high while the sensor spans 1-1/2 inches wide by 3/4 inch deep by 4-4/5 inches high.

Need a quick, easy way to determine both the time and the morning temperature with a single glance? Check out the Timex TX5040 electronic thermometer, a versatile desktop model that simultaneously displays the indoor temperature, outdoor temperature, and current time in big, bold numbers. The compact unit--which also mounts on a wall or sits unobtrusively on a tabletop or shelf--offers an indoor temperature range of 32 to 104 degrees F (0 to 40 degrees C) and an outdoor range of -58 to 158 degrees F (-50 to 70 degrees C). As a result, you can instantly gauge whether to bring the plants inside during a cold spell, turn up the heat in the living room, or put on a jacket before taking a stroll. At the same time, the TX5040 includes an integral minimum/maximum memory function that records the high and low temperatures of the day. The values are available at the push of a button, with a second button clearing and resetting the memory on command.
The thermometer is remarkably easy to read--even from across the room--thanks to the three-line LCD panel, which features pronounced digits that measure 0.34 inches tall. The time digits, meanwhile, check in at 1/4 inches each. Best of all, all three lines--one each for the indoor temperature, outdoor temperature, and time--are stacked in a logical fashion, so you don't need to press any buttons or switch screens to check the latest info. Users do, however, have their choice of multiple formats for each line, including Celsius or Fahrenheit readings for the temperature and 12-hour (with AM and PM) or 24-hour readings for the time. The selections are made via the five silver control buttons on the front.
The TX5040 comes with a wired, weather-resistant temperature probe (with a 10-foot cord) for gauging the outdoor temperature, along with an integral folding stand. Because of the wired probe, the main unit will need to located near a window to enjoy the outdoor temperature functions. And should you want to mount the unit on a wall rather than place it on a shelf or desk, simply suspend it from its rear hanger hole (you'll need to provide the nail or screw). As a final bonus, the TX5040 is streamlined and attractive, with a sleek white housing and a snazzy five-button control panel on the front.
The compact unit, which is powered by a single AAA battery (not included), measures 2.5 by 3.38 by 0.75 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a one-year factory warranty.
What's in the Box Main unit, wired probe with 10-foot cord, integral table stand, user's manual.

CDN DTTC-S Combo Probe Thermometer Timer & Clock Silver Review

CDN DTTC-S Combo Probe Thermometer Timer and Clock Silver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this themometer as a Christmas gift last year after years of frustrating candy-making trying to read the mercury through foggy glass on those cheap yellow-capped varieties. Today was the big day! I was kicking off my holiday goodie-making, and planned to use my nifty new CDN Combo Probe. I clipped it on the sauce pan and set the temperature to signal when it reached the "softball" stage. Everything appeared to be functioning correctly until the temp reached around 217. After that, though the sugary syrup was obviously getting hotter and browner, the temp. readout on my nifty new CDN Combo Probe was DECREASING...down to the 170's! I rifled through my gadget drawer and pulled out a glass tube thermometer and the mercury quickly shot up to 250+ degrees. I tried my nifty new CDN Combo Probe twice more in other recipes with similar results. It never read more than 217 before it started counting down. It's too late for me to return this overpriced clock/timer now. Bummer.... If you're hoping to use this thermometer for something that gets hotter than 200 degrees, save your money! Back to the yellow-capped variety for me!

La Crosse Technology WS-1025 Digital Window Thermometer Review

La Crosse Technology WS-1025 Digital Window Thermometer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I like everything about the thermometer except its most important feature: the outside temperature is too strongly influenced by the inside temperature.
Ok, so I have it installed at my place in the mountains where the difference at night on the inside/outside termperatures can be forty degrees or more. Many mornings I check this thermometer with two other outside thermometers and find the other two may read, for example, 15 degrees and this one will read 35 degrees. It will be 60 degrees inside.
My window is double-paned, but that still does not insulate sufficiently to produce unreliable outside readings.
When not window-mounted and placed by other thermometers, the readings are acceptable and consistent.

Bundle up accordingly after a glance out the window to check the outside temperature on this digital window thermometer. Made by La Crosse Technology, the weather-resistant thermometer lies flat against any window, mounted with an adhesive strip. The thermometer’s clear, UV-shield protected screen conveys the current temperature in large black digits in the center of the screen. With a temperature accuracy of +/-1.5 degrees F, the thermometer measures temperatures ranging from -13 to +158 degrees F. Additionally, the thermometer tracks the minimum and maximum temperatures and resets daily with an internal clock. The minimum temperature is displayed in small digits below the current temperature and resets at 8 PM, while the maximum temperature is posted above the current temperature and resets at 8 AM. For operation, the thermometer requires the separate purchase and installation of one AAA battery. Remove the plastic tab from the positive terminal in the battery compartment and set the internal clock before mounting. For the best results, mount the thermometer out of direct sunlight on a clean, dry surface. The thermometer detaches for window cleaning. This item is covered by a limited one-year warranty. The thermometer measures 4 inches wide by 3/4 inches deep by 3-3/4 inches high and weighs 1 pound upon shipping.

Salter #1200 LCD Wall Mount Aquatronic Kitchen Scale and Clock Review

Salter #1200 LCD Wall Mount Aquatronic Kitchen Scale and Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this item thinking it would serve as both a kitchen clock and a kitchen scale. It's a nice idea. Basically you hang the whole thing on the wall, then when you want to weigh something you remove the outside ring (with a glass cover), set it on the counter, and the clock on the wall becomes the readout for the scale. They are even nice enough to include all 7 AAA batteries!
What I didn't realize was that the unit needs to sit directly above the location where you're going to use the scale because it uses an rfid technology and the two have to have a direct sight line between them. In my kitchen the clock sits on a wall that doesn't have a counter beneath it, and I didn't think it would be practical to weigh things on the floor.
The other thing I didn't care for was that the clock was hard to read. It has black numbers on a grey background which you can make out if the room is very bright, but not at all in dim light. And you can't really view it from an angle. You almost have to be standing directly in front of it to read the time and temperature. When you're weighing something this lovely blue light is activated that pretty much solves any readability issues, but as soon as you're done with the scale, it goes back to being dark. The package is a little misleading since it shows the numbers on a bright blue background. I figured that's how the clock would look.
So, if you're looking for a digital kitchen scale, and you have a spot on the wall directly above where you like to weigh things, and you don't really care about being able to read the time and temperature, it might work for you!
My suggestions to the manufacturer; make the clock more readable and use bluetooth technology so the scale can be placed further from the clock.

The Salter wall mount Aquatronic scale is a veryunique and useful design. The outer rim is a scale when laid on the counter top.The wall mounted center is attached to the wall with a easy-to-read backlit display. When you are not using it as a scale the outer rim stores on the wall around the readout. This now becomes your kitchen clock complete with indoor temperature.Very clever use of space. The Aquatonic feature allows you to weigh both liquid and dry ingredients at the same time.Weighs up to 7 pounds /3kg dry or 105 fl.oz/3000ml liquid

I bought two of these; one for me and one for a gift. I used it immediately to make English toffee. The temperature never registered above 220 F and it burned! I checked the temperature with my old candy thermometer (with the mercury) and it said it was over 390 F. So, I took out the other one and tried to make another batch of toffee. This time I used both this thermometer and my old candy one. Again, this digital thermometer was always low. So, I am returning the both of these digital thermometers. Maybe they work well for meat but I don't want to risk it! I am very disappointed!

La Crosse Technology WS-9611U-IT Wireless Sun/Moon Forecast Station with Oscar Outlook
Average Reviews:

I bought it in February 09'. After two months' use, the display was dead. I thought it was the batteries. So I replaced all the batteries. The display beeped once and then nothing. Same thing when I tried at least 3 types of alkaline batteries as recommended. As other reviewer mentioned, La Crosse has ZERO customer servce.
1)I contacted them using their online Contact Custome Service form in early May.
2)Having hearding nothing from them, I sent a email on June 10. An email came on June 12 with the typical Battery instructions despite the detailed problem description in my email. It also asked for the purchase info that I already sent in the previous email.
3)Anyway, I resent all the info requested on the same day, June 12. And guess what, nothing happened after that.
It's 10 days now after I sent the last email. My patience ran out. So I filed a complaint with BBB. And I strongly encourage any one who have similr problems with La Crosse to do the same. We can't just let them sell faulty products and ignore the customers.
Update: My case with BBB was closed as UNRESOLVED due to NO RESPONSE from La Crosse. Now La Crosse has the lowest rating of F in BBB system. Check it out before you buy!

Gardeners, hikers, beach combers, farmers, sailors, skiers, daily commuters and anyone who needs to keep an eye on the weather and temperatures indoors and out will love this wireless weather station from La Crosse Technology. With 15 forecast icons, the station makes it easy to plan for that outdoor barbecue, beach outing, or ski day, helping you decide what to wear and when to schedule.
With plenty of versatile features, the unit displays sunrise/sunset and moon phases for 99 U.S. and Canadian cities. A remote sensor helps you monitor outdoor temperatures and the main console displays temperatures and humidity levels inside. The remote sensor works from up to 330 feet away for monitoring temperatures and humidity levels in the greenhouse, shop, and garage. It works great indoors too, helping monitor temperatures in the baby's room, music room, and near plumbing you don't want to freeze up. The main console receives data from up to 3 remote locations with the purchase of additional sensors. A great way to help kids dress for the weather, the weather station's Oscar Outlook icon is always dressed appropriately for weather ahead, with outfits ranging from swimming trunks to a coat, hat and scarf, and other weather-themed accessories in tote, such as a beach chair, an umbrella, or a snow man.
The station's precision clock receives signals from the U.S. Atomic Clock, automatically setting itself to exact time accurate to the second. A manual override setting lets you set date and time yourself for areas where Daylight Savings Time doesn't apply (otherwise the handy unit sets itself for DST, too). A large button lets you toggle between an array of time and weather displays. A flip out table stand sets up quickly on counter, windowsill, or desk, or the unit hangs easily from any wall in the home or office. This weather station is compatible with La Crosse Technology TX29U-IT 915 MHz Wireless Temperature Sensor.
